I was trawling around some of the bookies today and here are some of the so called specials which are on offer, Laddies money back if a European golfer wins the masters, Boyles are offering money back if your golfer finishes 2nd or 3rd including ties,... 25/1 henrik Stenson with this offer seems a fair bet, one i like with laddies is john huh 25/1 to be in the top 10. ..i will leave the expert write up to Callit who is a lot more Knowledgeable then myself. good luck with you bets lads.

Very satisfactory tournament , although not exciting over the last 9 as Bubba was always in control of his ball . Thats the difference this year with Bubba ( as I posted months ago ) , he plays more mature golf nowadays . Different this year , maybe its parenthood kicking in !
Also delighted with Kuchar , my bet was 1-6 places , where he finished suited me .
Roll on the next major , and then the Open , I have backed Bubba for it at 90 on here . Dont think he will be more than 25/1 .

Ozy , Bubba was my first bet on the Masters , as posted in my 4 picks . Traded out on him , sure , along with the 3 others who also made me money trading , but I always keep a bit up my sleeve for interest . He is also going to make me a fair bit of money in the Open , when I lay off my bets which I took on here here at 90 . Think I got most of that 90 .

Ozy , I traded out on Bubba at 9.30 pm on Thursday , he was the last of the four I actioned . Not sure when he started to play , but I guess he got beyond the first green .
Rory and Scott played better golf than their finishing position indicated . They will both be back . Both of them had terrible nine hole runs in their 72, that happens at Augusta . If Rorys ball had travelled another 6 inches at the 15th tonight he would have been 3 under instead of level , thats the fine line between glory and despair at Augusta .

Another cracking renewal, only slight negative being Bubba had it wrapped up early enough.
Bubba is someone I just cant take to, but all credit to him. He recovered from Saturdays shakiness, and again drove unbelievably well yesterday, hitting wedges into par 5s. Ridiculous. I would love his golfing ability, but would pass on the wife. As my brother said to me last night, if God was helping Bubba with his golf, he did him no favours with his missus. Horrendous.
For Jordan Spieth, it was just too soon. But he wont be long in waiting, for he is an awesome talent. He got to the front early doors yesterday, but in all honesty wasn't playing that well, and got there through lady luck and good putting. But he handled himself very well, and seems to be learning not to be as hard on himself if things aren't going perfectly. He is the heir to Tigers throne.
Talking about Tigers throne, Rory yet again produced his best round when the ship had sailed. Infuriating to his legions of fans, but expected to others.
Jonas Blixt was again a joy to watch, though we got to watch relatively little of him. Nearly every second shot of Ian Poulter was shown, but very rare glimpses from the man who was right in contention. To be fair, maybe I was being unfair about the lack of coverage of Blixt. Such is the way he plays the game, the cameraman may not have been able to find him until he got to the green!! He holed every putt he should have, and his chipping was again a delight. He doesn't contend too often, and is the type of player the media and the markets forget very quickly, so he may be insulting prices again quite soon. He has bottle aplenty, and a refreshing attitude. 3 major appearances have produced finishes of 26/4/2. Quite a feat. Hopefully he comes into the British Open under the radar. His game will relish the test. Again, not great punishment for wayward drives, and potentially no need for a driver, his short game is the best in the world. On debut last year, he played level par golf over the weekend, which was bettered only by a couple of players. I would guess he is looking forward to it, and so am I.
Matt Kuchar did what he does best. Flattered to deceive. Its going to be very hard for him to get over the line, and he should be continuously laid when in contention at short odds. I missed out on laying him when he hit the front last night, as had no coverage in pub, but he has proved kind to pink button hitters of late. He is nearly as reliable as the Mayo footballers on a September Sunday.
Lee Westwood again backed out of it early, before running on well. His interview on Saturday showed his horrible attitude, and shows just why he cant seem to win one. Though he did again show he saves his best for the tougher assignments and quotes of 50-1 are always worth taking e.w, as he is invariably there or thereabouts.
From a personal point of view, it was a profitable week, and though not bagging the winner, yesterday went well. Blixt produced a healthy place dividend, won Top Swede on the bridle, and Jimenez bagged Top Senior. Slightly disappointing WW didn't also nail the place money. He certainly played well enough to be top 6. But putted like Stevie Wonder. It would have been great if Blixt could have pulled off the win, and land the loot. Apart from a few on here backing him, quite a few people I know invested at big odds, so it would have given extra pleasure. Choi and Westwood along with Jimenez and Blixt ensured landing a nice yankee, to put the icing on the cake, so a nice way to end the week.
Roll on the US Open, and the Return of the Tiger. Its just not the same without him.

Just dont understand the Bubba thing , but then I tend only to look at the shots the guys are playing . Adopting the baby has changed Bubba I reckon , and Bubba has never had a golf lesson in his life , what you see is what you get . And no coach crap / changes etc . He will stand the test of time , like Furyk , both with individual ways of playing golf .
Those who dont understand the way Bubba plays golf have probably no knowledge of a certain Irishman ( Belfast born but domaciled in Muskerry ) who was favourite for the 1937 British Open when aged only 17 . A hurler playing golf , look up some of the old footage when googling Jimmy Bruen . He still holds a record at Newcastle from 1937 , 65 I think , has never been beaten , although course has been lengthened and 16th remodelled . Standard scratch there was 74 or 75 when he did his 65 . And his equipment would be binned by any current player or pro .

Nice right up callit, especially the bit about Bubba's wife. You just know to look at her that she has a range of strap on paraphanalia to inflict pain on Blubba in the boudoir.
Re Kuchar..did he play well to finish so high...or did he bottle it because he didn't win it.... seems for some guys if you finish top 10 and didn't win you are a bottler.....finish outside the top 20 and you just had a bad week...but no 'bottler' label....maybe these guys are 'the real bottlers'.I appreciate Kuch has previous and has let wins go...though not sure that label applies this week.

Ha, Jesus thebeg, think you're being a bit over sensitive there!! You've never joked about a woman's looks no? She's not the best looking when you compare her to some of the other WAGs on tour. Bubba is god squad though so I'd say he might not be as vain as the rest of us!
Ozy the bottler thing is tricky, I too agree it's very easy to label good golfers who frequently contend as 'bottlers'. If you take a hard line there are very very few of the top players you wouldn't brand as bottlers, tiger, Phil (now), McDowell, zach and not many others are the only one without too many blots against their name.
Even before this week, you'd have concerns about Bubba's bottle in contention and as recently as 2 months ago I was cursing him calling him a loser on twitter. However I still backed him this week and he held it together superbly last night so all is forgiven.
Therefore I try to give some players benefit of doubt when backing them, but Kuch is a special case. He is a perennial top 10 merchant and no matter how many times he finds himself in contention he finds a way NOT to win! A very consistent golfer, yes.... But a winner he will never be! Maybe it's his smiley, laid back attitude but either way can't see him ever being prolific!
My mate asked me at start of week if I was only allowed have one bet on masters what would it be, I said Kuch top 10...... Turns out i had about 100 bets and not one of them was that :-P

I blame the late Alex Higgins for the media / celebrations/ kids / wives set up , which has become so beloved of the media . Used to be the guys finished their round , signed their cards ( waiting for someone to screw up on that one somewhere along the line ) , did their acceptance speech , and then the family ( if there , was not always the case ) had their time with the winner . Higgins started the "modern" method as I recall , cant remember anybody significant before that . And he cried , media loves that , proves humanity . No objection to anyone crying , just dont think we public should be privy , its a private moment .
Now the tennis players make a big thing about climbing up to their supporters , soccer players milk the crowd reaction if they score , everybody does fist pumps etc . Not sure there was anything wrong with scoring a goal and trotting back to the centre circle with a smile , a wave or two to the crowd from the tennis players , a hug from your caddie , all low key . Maybe its the modern way , but its pretty irrelevant , the only thing that really matters is the name on the trophy . Some of the "jackets " are pretty horrendous , have even seen ill fitting green jackets betimes . And thats not normally the Masters way , especially as there is never any rubbish anywhere on the course --unless you find it a la Ernie .

Golfing threads are fantastic on here for a variety of reasons even though my knowledge is extremely limited. Question for the Golfing Experts on a psychological aspect that puzzles me.
I can understand to an extent sportsmen crumbling under pressure when the prestige/honour peaks such as the majors but why in this sport do Multi-millionaire golfers regularly bottle it in run of the mill tournaments. I presume at least the top 50 golfers are financially secure and it should not be the prize money that makes their knees give.
The Tiger Woods aura a few years ago was perhaps a plausible reason but it seems to have accelerated since his demise from ultimate dominance. Should professional sportsmen not thrive on pressure?
If you were to compare it to other individual sports such as tennis or snooker, in tennis yes 4 players have dominated for a sustained period in the grand slams until this year but you regularly see other tournaments being won without this intense mental struggle. (WTA is thankfully a different breed)
I cannot think of a credible cognitive bias or mental heuristic that should explain it unless you accept fear as a valid explanation but this does not reveal the motivation behind it?
A possible explanation I presume is a wider base of players get into winning positions than other sports but that still does not explain the volume of bottlers who regularly contend for mediocre tournaments?(not referring to majors)

I think people are far too quick to describe certain golfers are bottlers. There are a wide variety of possible reasons why a golfer may take a strong lead and s just one of them. It's very hard to distinguish between a player playing poorly and crunbling under pressure.
Obviously, there are some very clear cut examples of players bottling under pressure but it seems every time a player takes a 2 or 3 shot lead and loses now, the first thing people will say is that he bottled it.
If you look at the top 20 golfers in the world now, I would say at least 80% of them have been labelled bottlers at one time or another but it's just not very likely that so many top players could be described as so, just the nature of this particular sport imo.
Look at the Sky analysts shameful attack on Bubba after he lost earlier in the year. Imo, he just played poorly on the final day having played excellently for 3 previous days. This week, he played poorly on day 3 and managed to play excellently on day 4 and win confortably.

Without doubt nerves plays a factor but maybe the most important one and simplistic is the mindset changes in most leaders ie play more conservative in order to protect a lead whereas the challengers have to take chances, if a few players behind one or more can bring off a great shot cutting lead and thus building momentum for themselves. Worst case i think i seen of nerves(can,t remember the tournie) was about 4 years ago and a close up of Tim Clarks hand showed it shaking to quite a violent degree.

I think in golf, and snooker for that matter, a poor shot or miss is highlighted that much more because everyone is focussing on that one shot at that particular time. Neither a free flowing sports where you are in the heat of battle, and the mind has less time to wander. Darts would be another example(though I don't really consider it a sport)
Nerves are obviously more visible because of the close up nature of coverage, and slow(relative to other sports) course of play.
When a jockey is riding a race, or a footballer bearing down on goal, or a tennis player in the middle of a 20 shot rally, they are in the moment, 100% focussed on what is front of them. Adrenalin has taken over and there is no time for a wandering mind.
A footballer may mistime/misplace his effort on goal, from where he intended it to go, but it may still go in. In golf/snooker, the target is more minute, a mistake is highlighted so much more, and because of the small margins for error, they appear to happen so much more.
Very few golfers have perfected a way to keep negative thoughts out their head, when standing over an 8ft par putt for victory. It looks terrible when he misses, much worse than a tennis player just missing the line on the wrong side.
Look at Jimmy White when faced with 1.02 pots when he faced Crucible glory. He was missing by inches.
Sports psychologists have become huge in every sport, but they can only do so much. You either have it or you don't. Sometimes something can happen in your career that makes you believe you can always nail that winning kick/putt/pot. Ronan O' Gara had a shaky temperament under pressure during his early years. To me, his final conversion kick against Gloucester in 2003 was the moment he started to believe, and became cast iron under pressure.
Matt Kuchar has got on a slippery slope, and the signs were there well before the last 3 weeks. Maybe I was rash in saying I don't think he can win again, but in believing in and betting on that, he has certainly boosted layers coffers in recent weeks. He will now have bigger demons to hold back when facing crucial shots/putts, and its hard to see how he will arrest the slide.

Fear of failure is part of the human condition . Applies to betting as well , when you are in front and coasting you make better decisions , at least I do . Trick is getting in front ( or always being there , but that is another thread ) .
Tiger and Jack ( and the worthies before them , Hogan , Nelson , Snead , Palmer , Player , Watson , Trevino , Miller , Seve , Bernhard , Faldo etc etc ) handled pressure very well . Norman did outside of the Majors , Sandy just won if he played well .
Thats why all those mentioned dominated in their own way . Very few of the current crop will be able to replicate the efforts and records of those mentioned , part of it is because of an absence of "hunger" . Life is too easy these days on the Tour for those with a modicum of talent , in the old days winning was much more significant financially . A hungry fighter is a good fighter was an old boxing maxim , applied to soccer players too in the old days , it was a way out of the back streets for a lot . Nowadays ! ?
Rory is a good example of the younger lot syndrome . He was hungry for success ( not financial as I know for a fact from his initial start up etc ) , and achieved a big part of that step up the ladder to world no 1 . Think he is 9 now , a year or so later , and life is a dawdle . Hope he regains that hunger .

This will be my last say on the matter, as you obviously don't have any sense of humour, somehow believe all women to be crackers and have never said a bad word about anyone. I am glad to say we have nothing in common.
There was very little wrong with my '3am' post, as you wrongly described it. You initially made a mountain out of a molehill(though I did think Bubbas wife was a mountain to start with), and since backed up your apparent lack of humour and understanding of jest with this contribution.
I would hazard a guess that the post was removed, not because of anything derogatory in it, but because I listed a porn website for you(instead of your request of a picture of my wife,.....how disturbing indeed).
Best of luck to you, may you hopefully sometime be able to come off the high horse and have some fun with the mere mortals of this world.

Notah Begay III, a Golf Channel analyst and one of Tiger Woods’ closest friends, said that the world No. 1 likely will not be recovered from back surgery in time to play the June 12-15 U.S. Open.
Woods has not spoken publicly since undergoing surgery March 30 to repair a pinched nerve in his back. In a statement, he said only that he hoped to return to the PGA Tour “sometime this summer.”
Speaking on CBS Sports Radio on Monday, Begay, who has his own history of back issues, said, “I’ve been in contact with him this week. He missed being at Augusta and certainly was watching the tournament, (but) I think he needs to give (his back) a minimum of 90 days to make sure that scar tissue heals up appropriately and he doesn’t run the risk of re-injuring it. So that would push him past the U.S. Open.”
If Woods is unable to compete at Pinehurst, it would mark the second time in the past four years that he missed the U.S. Open because of injury (2011).

Having a look back at some of the early post , the gotchee had some interesting run for his money , particularly with Miguel . Must say I couldn't see that one coming , played out of his skin . And some had Miguel also for top Senior , again I would have been looking at Bernhard and Freddie who both played and scored well as is their wont here .
The older guys played the course well , apart from the 3 mentioned here Sandy also played well , and so did Woosie who scuppered one of my 3 ball bets . Sergio once again disappointed after a good start , think its time to give up on him delivering a big one , along with Lee who just cant score commensurate with his general golfing ability .
