I place laid the first and second ...but got it back on the SI. Was convinced the result would stand... a) because DR had whip in correct hand b) Jockey on second didn't have to stop riding c) There was the issue of SC veering across towards LW -a slight contributing factor d) It was the Gold Cup -which shouldn't matter but it does and an offence would have to be pretty clear cut to warrant disqualification in such an event. As the stewards secretary said if in doubt at all the winner keeps it.
I'll be amazed if Willie pursues this any further or Graham Wylie either.

On his own veered into and nearly wiped out The Giant Bolster going over the 2nd last that was far worse than the conti caused interference on the run in.

They rarely disqualify in Britain, probably because the levy is worked out amazingly on bookmakers profits, they don't want double results.
It was a big race and I actually think they made the right call.

Wasn't that big odds-on to keep it. It was 1/3 which is fairly big for a SI. Should have been reversed IMO. Nothing in it in the end and OHO was taken very wide by LW and Davy Russell's excuse was poor enough in the SI - "ears were pricked, SC took him wide (he didn't really, he was already going right at the time)"

Just on Vubiants 20.24 post, Willie was interviewed shortly after and seemed as if he was going to appeal, didn,t think it was the time or place to air that view myself and should have waited a while,,bit disappointed in him really as it did deflect from Culloty,s moment imo. With no real contact think the decision was right as On His Own seemed to me to veer on his own accord for a fair bit of the early part of the run in at least.

I'm inclined to agree with the argument that both horses were equally losing ground by the drift, but the rules as they stand are too heavily in favour of the perpetrator rather than the victim, personally I think the benefit should always be given to the victim rather than the sinner.

No doubting that both horses lost an equal amount of ground Silver but the fact remains that On his Own lost that ground through no fault of his own.
The televised Stewards inquiry confirmed my opinion that the BHA take absolutely no notice of jockeys evidence....pointless exercise...already had their mind made up.

did Mr. Wylie not used to get rid of jockeys like every year?? or was that HJH?
either way between the 2 of them they seemed to go through them at a quite alarming rate
