Jumps Road 66/1. A lot of pace in this race, he should be staying on at the death/
Deputy Dan 16/1. Ground a bit of a concern but has done nothing wrong and won a G2 easily last time out,winners of that G2 have a good record in this race.
First Lieutenant e/w @ 6/1 NAP without Bobsworth. On this ground, I think he is better than anything in the race except the fav.
Pearlysteps 12/1 A horse that has rediscovered some of his old form winning his last two races. Rated within a pound of top rated Tammys Hill, this sound jumper should go well.
Virak 25/1.  Even though he is top weight there is less than a stone between top and bottom weight in this handicap. With a 6 lb claimer on board this one could be still on the improve so shouldn't be ruled out.
Dare Me 28/1. A Venitia Williams horse who will go on good ground. Chase form 1271232f2. Won easily last time out.

Profitable day yesterday but really should've been a lot better only for a couple of costly blunders.

1.30, The Fred Winter gave mixed messages as regards the relative merits of the English and Irish horses, won't be going in with the kitchen sink but Elliot seems quietly confident Tiger Roll will turn the tables on Pete so he'll do for me ew.

2.05, Very tricky looking h/cap only going to have one bet in it which is unusual for me, Alaivan for the in form O'Neill, seems to be coming back to something like his old form and is extremely well handicapped on his best form. 5 places most bookies.

2.40, Briar Hill is obviously as short as he is because the Mullins novices have been flying the flag for the stable, sounds like there is plenty of stable confidence behind it but I've not been overly impressed with anything BH has done on the track thus far, not pushed about having a bet but might have a stab ew on Urban Hymn, Jefferson quite likes this horse.

3.20, No bet, might be criminal for some not to have a bet in the showpiece race but I'm going to sit back and enjoy it without any financial interest, I've always thought Bobs Worth will be a better horse on better ground but I've never been entirely convinced by his jumping, he's been getting away with some really sloppy jumping but he might not get away with it forever, hence no bet!.

The awful run of Dunguib might scupper enthusiasm for some with Last Installment.

4.0, I had the luckless Oscar Delta in this last year but the drying ground might not be ideal this year?, and with the bookies criminally only paying 3 places in a race where the vast majority of riders are mannequins I can't bring myself to force a bet.

4.40, Probably the toughest h/cap of the week to solve,  Caid Du Berlais should run well if its run behind Jezki can be taken at face value?, form of Nichols horses a worry though, and I'll have a small ew Art Professor at a big price who has run well in this race twice in the past.

5.15, Oiseau De Nuit owes me nothing in this race having won and placed for me at big prices, would also have been bang there only for been brought down in-between those 2 races, back for more again this year, is a good bit higher in the weights but a 4L 2nd at Kempton behind Sire De Grugy reads good in the context of this race, might make the frame at a decent price?. I'm also having an ew on His Excellency for in form Pipe who was in the process of running a decent race in this last year before exiting, jumping is a bit of a worry.

yes vinnie, my nap was arctic fire today, so close pity about Ruby, Paul rode him o.k. but Ruby would have made the diffence,

David Casey rode him - made no difference imo as gave him a fine ride

i said in my opinion - why what do you think Ruby would have done different to make the difference, thought Casey gave it a fine ride and produced it to win the race but was just beaten by the better horse at the weights on the day

I'd a large bet there on Briar Hill - thought the horse was keen and without seeing it again yet just guessed at the hurdle - it happens

perhaps Ruby would have got him to settle better but to be honest i can't blame the jockey for what happened

would like to see it again though

I'm sure plenty of people had the treble with the supreme and neptune winners, knowing ruby was riding, but that's what the exchanges are for, to cover your bets, when things go wrong.

We ended up with +41.25 for the week. If we could only do that every week?

Do you back them all just in singles gotchee? Or do you chance the each way double?

I just back E/W singles, thats my bet. I rarely back a fav, I prefer the value and it has stood me well over the years. Some people like to back shorties and odds on but that method of backing is the quickest way to the poorhouse. It's all about studying and understanding the form and you have to put in the work.

And sometimes its good to be in a pub beside a bookie shop gotchee as I convinced myself that Very Wood seemed too big a price not to have a few quid ew on it, after Tiger Roll 12/1 in the first I couldn't lose after that.

After a disastrous Tuesday I made a decent recovery to be slightly in front at the end.

my cheltenham antepost bets went badly, after listening to lot of people on here about CH, jetski got away in the big race for me.

only backed in 12 races at the meeting, done less than 30 mins of form study over the 4 days and 5 mins of that was spent on my
tip of the meeting for the forum VAUTOUR.

my winners where VAUTOUR / FAUGHEEN / SIRE DE GRUGY / BALTHAZAR KING / FINGAL BAY / MORE OF THAT
most of those ones didnt need any form study thank god.

there where a few that got away with decent form, most notably TIGER ROLL / VERY WOOD / LORD WINDERMERE with the j culloty
connection and course form would of made for a good outsider.

the ground was not suitable for lots of horses and the paces of the races changed because of this, good meeting overall.
well done to the winners and commiserations to the losers.

I couldn't bring myself to back Very Wood, silver, Meade's record at Cheltenham was too off-putting. A nice winner all the same well done
