Good value that , Norn . Stayed in one of those last year and the "official" rate for our room was around £200 for B & B .  £75 is a steal  , as one breakfast would be costing around £15 .

Whatever about Norn Irons kind offer the Slieve Donard is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful part of the country, its steeped in history and is architecturally a wonder

The coast road from Newcastle to Tyrella is something else,I think you have missed the Tyrella point to point which is unfortunate.

For younger people they have a modern bar The Percy French at the entrance to the Slieve Donard hotel.

Its also a golfers paradise.

Thanks Norn, unfortunately I have already booked a hotel and what makes it worse I have paid upfront. I would like to visit the Everglades sometime,is it nice?

I went to Westport for Cheltenham last year. 3 nights b&b in 4 star Castlecourt (Tue Wed Thu) was only €80 a head.I think it is something similar this year.(It was the last time I looked)Great town and some great racing pubs.

From age 4 to about 20 I spent every summer in Newcastle ( we took a house for the month ) . Always near the golf course(s) . You had to cross the railway tracks in those days to get on to the course ( the short way from our house ) . Never set foot in the Slieve though until I was about 25 . It was olde world then , draughty etc , but now it is top class and I use it regularly for meals if down that way , set dinner used to be excellent and not bad value considering the standard attained .

Not sure how you can get golf for 20 anything norn , unless you are in the company of a member . My brother plays a lot of Saturdays with members of Mourne for approaching that figure , but during the winter they nip around the Anneseley ( NO 2 ) course in about 3 hours as distinct from the big course which is a 5 hour job . And it is a good course  , and you will not lose as many balls as on the main links .
