very sad RIP. A knowledgeable commentator. The Phoenix magazine will struggle for horseracing content in his absence. A good allround guy.

The sudden death has occurred in Dublin of well-known greyhound journalist John Martin (63).
A native of Dublin, he first worked in the music industry and then moved into freelance sports journalism before being appointed a Sports Reporter with the Irish Independent in 1980. He was greyhound correspondent with that paper for many years while also reporting on snooker, soccer and horse racing. In latter years he was associated with the Irish Daily Star and the Mail on Sunday while he was also the writer of “Ger McKenna on Greyhounds” which was published in 1989. We extend our sympathies to his wife Patricia, son Byron and daughters Alison and Heidee. Funeral details later. May He Rest in Peace John Martin (aka "3753 Cruithne" on here) |
