Would assume it had an injury at some stage, hence being late out and kept to bumpers?
Report Arklearkle February 23, 2014 7:38 PM GMT
He only cost half a million so why the rush. I presume he had an injury.
Report CheltenhamRoar February 24, 2014 7:12 PM GMT
Wouldn't imagine many horses have ran in 2 consecutive champion bumpers??
Report silvergreaser February 24, 2014 7:15 PM GMT
The name of the trainer should put many an alarm bell ringing, was yesterdays performance the real Golantilla?, if so he's useless, but why do I get the feeling the trainer involved is up to no good?

If memory serves Refinement ran 2 years in a row in the bumper... Coolmore connections, think with JohnJoe, 2nd and 4th or thereabouts

French Holly was close to doing it.

His bumper win was not rated high enough to run first time around so he was aimed at it the following year.

Rhythm Section was 4th when trying to win the bumper twice.

bumpers are like maidens on teh flat............they are not an end in themselves for NH horses.............i have no idea why they would want a second campaign at the bumper............the injury has nothing to do with it. its just bizarre..............almost as bizarre as paying 200k for a 10 year old hunter chaser. connell needs a racing manager. has he any idea what he is doing?
Report paulie wallnuts February 25, 2014 8:50 AM GMT
Brain Dead Jockeys asks the right question......has he any idea what hes doing.....the answer is a resounding no......and that applies to all aspects of the game......from jockey selection on a scale of 1-10 about a 2.....adviser selection about a 1.....and trainer selection about a 5.......a few good ones and a lot awful.......
Barry should come down from his high horse too regarding Fenton......he has heaped a pile of pressure on the authorities with his actions......he has hung Fenton out to dry.....and I sincerely hope he gets the luck he deserves with the rest of his horses.....
They should show him the now infamous list.....because if he is adopting this approach with Fenton.....why not the same policy with some of his other trainers who are on it......I don't believe for a moment that he doesn't know who was on it......the whole world knows who they are......

I have to agree with paulie on fenton, if Connell is taking that line with ttt then surely the others on the list (if he has a horse with them)must have the same actions?..the man is innocent till proven otherwise..and should be allowed to run where he wants till such time a jury of his peers decides otherwise..
Report Arklearkle February 25, 2014 11:17 AM GMT
My own opinion is that TTT was not going to win anyway.

maybe so arkle...but its the way Connell has just jumped in...

If he was mine now, I'd get in 4 or 5 runs over flights in the lead up to the summer, get loads of experience, attain a nice mark in the 130's/early 140's and then head for the Galway Hurdle. This is the horse that Martin said was destroying most of what he had at home. He'd be a better class of horse than most he'd meet at Galway and it would be a way of salvaging the year for them. Horses like this, once they have set-backs and miss time seem to find it very hard to compete at the very elite level, but a Galway Hurdle would be still within his compass you'd think.

I dont disagree with you Tony at all - the point I was making was that if TTT was home and hosed would they have been so quick. As it is  he has put pressure on the Turf Club, the BHA, Cheltenham iself, racing in general and other owners such as Giggi.
