Windows XP ceasing to provide updates from 8th April.

I,m shockingly tech ignorant so please excuse if i got this wrong but talking to someone who is a bit more savvy than me asked was i using it(no was the answer as using windows 8). He seemed fairly sure that with microsoft no longer providing security updates that anyone operating the system is at a very real risk that their computer is very vulnerable to hackers,scammers etc. I honestly don,t know as brutal enough on a computer but anyone using XP might want to check it out a bit more.
