help me out here...I thought Setanta Ireland started their coverage of the Leinster Schools Senior cup today? Rock vs Monkstown today 2.30?

Yet nothing on listings?   And nothing on screen.

Is there bad weather or something?

Are you familiar with those round dishes pointing at the Sky, Wonks?  Do you think they only work in Ireland?

Honestly, its like dealing with someone with the intelligence of a horse fly.

This map should help you;

http://www.skyhelp.tv/sky-satellite-footprint

All you need is an Irish Sky card and box and you can watch any channel available in Ireland through Sky, within that satellite footprint.

Now who is the ignoramus?

no you cant oz..if theres certain events on they are banned in certain regions.fact

You must be confused, Kavvie.

If i have an Irish card (and associated box), I will always be able to see whatever you can in Ireland irrespective of where I am within the European satellite area described in the map.  This is my situation and I can assure you nothing has ever been blocked.

It's different if, say, I have a UK card, then they can alter what channels I see compared to say an Irish card holder, i.e. no RTE,  But  it is not dependent upon where I am, rater what card/box I have

OR if you are watching broadcasts online, then they can easily discriminate based on location...though easily got around via a VPN or proxy Server.

well oz i have all the setanta channels and sometimes it comes up"not available in your region".after the even the tv channel returns to normal.certain sports organisations havent an agreement with setanta to show some events in certain countrys...im not imagining this.nor is workrider.

The point is they broadcast (or restrict) based upon the type of card (Irish/English etc), not where it is geographically, as long as it is within the European wide region.

So for example, you cannot watch RTE with a UK Card/box.  However, if you have an Irish Card/Box, you can watch RTE in the UK. or elsewhere.  Obviously it will be registered to a Irish address.

So when Wonks suggest that you need to be in Ireland to watch the game in question or in fact any game that he can see in Ireland...the answer is NO!

ozy correct - plenty irish abroad with IRISH sky card and box getting to see channels as it they were at home in dingle. Nothing bloked.

to compare wrs itelligence level with that of a horse fly was indeed a cheap comment and not worthy of any normal person.if you had said that maybe he had a diff sky card/box might have been a better way to go?..my setanta blocks certain events as indeed must workriders.so there was merit in his comment.if you apologise to him ill apologise to you.isnt that fair?

I'm terribly sorry, Wonks.  I should never have likened your intelligence to that of a horse fly.

Kavvie, there are no variations in Official Sky Cards/Boxes that account for what you are suggesting so your point is not relevant.  Can you please give me an example of an event that your Setanta blocks?  Do you use an Official Sky Box?  Are you an Official ROI subscriber or are you in NI?

Last year Europa League matches were blocked on ESPN (I think it was ESPN but not sure) on Irish boxes as TV3 had the rights.

perhaps, but then that was case of an Irish card being blocked as opposed to a 'region' being blocked.

For example, if you had a UK box and UK card in Ireland you could have watched the match that you quote in Ireland on ESPN...in other words the region wasn't blocked (it can't be)...the card was.  It boils down to what card/box you have as opposed to where you are.

Bothered enough to argue night was day on this thread, fail to show the courtesy of answering any technical questions posed that might have helped shed light on your apparent issue, or make any effort to understand the points made.
