I can see your reasoning workrider with the 6lb pull, Mozoltov already has an easy victory over Ned albeit over hurdles.

But as always with these novice chases anything can happen, watching brief.

Tks lads , to me the only real danger to the bet is Ned , so 3.3 in a 2 horse race is worth the risk...

Tony agree Chute Hall looks a standout apart from the Roche horse, poor enough contest if ever its going to break its duck its this race, same for Getoutwhenyoucan in the 3.0N, one last chance for this guy with me after 2 runner up spots in similarly poor contests.

Decade Player looks well worth an e.w interest in the 3.00. Switches back to hurdles today after a very promising run in a much better handicap chase at Leop last time out.
Hasn't seemed as good over hurdles as chasing, where he has gained two recent wins, but he is 9lb lower over hurdles, and there could be a valid reason to expect better today. His last run over hurdles was probably his best yet, and though a similar grade to this, was a much better heat, as shown by two winners having come out of it already.
The key to Decade Players best performances, and recent improvement over fences, has been to get him settled, and get him settled in front. Both his chase wins he led all the way, and also led to two out at Leop. In his last hurdle run, he didn't get to the front, yet was still an improvement.
Today I would be surprised if he didn't get quite an easy lead. Rorys brother and Obispo both like to be handy and stay further, so wont want a crawl, but I would think they will be happy to sit in behind Decade Player. This will give him every chance of producing his improved chasing rating, which would suffice in what is essentially a very poor race.
16-1 at moment looks well worth backing.

I think the trip is far too short for CHUTE HALL, anything with a bit of pace will have it in trouble imo, MOONLIGHT BOY could take the world of beating.

Fav out of race , Mallowney now odds on , not my kind of price , but as the old saying goes , you've made your bed , now you must lay in it...

I'm no big fan of Ned Buntline, and wouldn't regard him as Cheltenham Novice standard, but 2.1 today now looks very attractive. He might not have to come of the snaff to beat this lot.

Get the feeling Upazo was never going to run as it was due to run at Sandown yesterday, the absence of Mozoltov might be a bit of fuel for the wildman theory workrider, essentially giving the Meade horse a solo.

Question is Callit , is he the horse they think he is  ?

I don't think he is WR, but the horse that I think he is, is more than capable of mopping this up. I wouldn't back him in a sterner test, but this is made for him. Outclassing inferior opposition, and making himself look better than he really he is, is his forte. He will be found out when upped in class, but today shouldn't be that day.

lads what about very wood to beat briar hill?..briar might not be all hes made out to be.went odds against ir last day v azorian.but for that one making a slow leap 2 or 3 out it might have been closer..the distance will suit v wood also..

Sadly for me Kavvie I'd just backed Briar @ 1.61 when they withdrew their other fellow , and my bet  is now  matched at 1.31 1.32 , that is not a price I would ever take ....I should have smelt a rat...

My theory only applies in the lower grade races,bumpers and some maiden hurdles.

I think the world and his wife will be out to get Ned Buntline,he will drift,he is a soft looking horse and I hate his sire Refuse To Bend,on a form line with Mozolotov Malowney comes out best.

wildman I'd be a little bit weary as regards Authorisation, I've found down the years horses done for not trying usually run down the field for the next few runs, if it comes out and hoses up after been banned its like admitting the stewards were right.

Wildmanfromborneo , no doubt that runner named after a famous jockey in the first , although spelt a little differently , will bring back some nice memories....

Mornington was one of the best.

With the fav out of the race I am going to have a sneaky E/W on Golanbrook. Stable going great guns at the moment and the most experienced of the two ahead of him in the market. Don't like the fact that Mallowney had a wind op last year and Meades stable looks like it is hitting it's annual slump.

The other one I am going to have an E/W on,in a poor enough race, is long standing maiden Sir Harry Cash. There is a lot of question marks about everything in the race. He ran well LTO and the drop in trip just might do the trick.

Think the 11/4 is big on Lukes Benefit,no world beater but very honest and game, he won well the last day to say he will defy the 6lb,loves the ground which is a big plus,lot of question marks over most of his rivals,can,t see him not being involved at the finish.

Thats 2 soft graded races that Mullins found for Briar Hill, I'd have absolutely no problem opposing this guy once the competition hots up, pity Apache Stronghold was withdrawn at Navan as I was looking forward to having a nice bet on him to beat Briar Hill that day.

Why would I need an imaginaton arkle surely questions need to be asked when a 2nd fav  is pulled up before they barely went halfway around?

Half the horses running in most races not off a yard and you never say a word. WM runs one of his worst animals and you are asking questions. Have you never wondered how come he wins so few handicaps relative to his non handicap wins while one has other establishments horses suddenly coming alive in big handicaps and not a squeak from you.

Might not be his best but its certainly nowhere near his worst arkle, 2 runs ago this horse beat Cailin Annamh cosily the r/up is unbeaten in 4 starts since.

TOUGH going there today for both man and beast , call it aftertiming if ye want , backed the first winner , went down from the stands and took 3/1 about Gleesons , missed 10/30 , after noting the fav unship Walsh , the fav looked as if it was all a bit much for him , the strong breeze seemed to unsettle this fellow , you can forget this run from this lad ...Mallowney was very impressive and jumped like a stag , one to keep on the right side of in this type of race , more to come from this fellow ..Briar Hill was impressive , Ruby thought him a lot today , his jumping improved immensely , he was much quicker away from his hurdles today than previously ...He could be anything , and looks the sort to find more when asked ..

Perhaps you should have a look at Cailin Annamh so rather than Chiltern Hills but you obviously dont see anything wrong with her form. Despite that result Cailin A is still rated about a stone higher (over hurdles) than Chiltern Hills which says plenty about that race. There may have been excuses for Cailin A for all we know that day but it is obviously not correct to judge Chiltern H on that run/result. I agree there should always be questions asked when a fancied one runs badly.

Not sure what race you were watching if you thought Briar Hill was impressive...

Even allowing for that arkle the horse has plenty of other form that would have given it every chance in todays race but ran like a hairy goat pulled up when the rank outsiders were still going, I didn't have a bet in the race but I guarantee many thousands in betting shops and on online backed the horse, might as well have wiped their backside with the docket before the race even started.

I have to agree snap workriders idea of impressive is different to ours.

This wouldn't have went off anywhere near 25/1 for the Champion Bumper if they thought it was the real deal, most likely one of those flukes you see from time to time in racing?.

I back many/plenty of WMs runners but Chiltern Hills would nearly be the last one of his I would touch and I made that decision way back and dont intend to ever back it in the future. I dont know you from Adam but its obvious you enjoy/love the sport and it is great that you highlight wrongs as you see them but it annoys me a little bit that WM and APOB can do no right in your eyes and yet every shyster in the sport can do whatever they like and we hardly ever hear a squeak from you. But I certainly dont lose any sleep over it either but I do enjoy the banter.

Arkle cmon I'd be the first to get stuck into the likes of Byrnes, Martin, Elliot etc, but don't tell me that a Mullins is squeaky clean?, the name Mullins alone is synonymous with skullduggery.

I highlight the Coolmore and Mullins ones because everyone else sees no wrong in them , all I hear from punters and media alike is how wonderful they are.

I guarantee you Chiltern Hills is an awful lot better than he showed today and this is far from an isolated case as regards the untouchable one.

If Byrnes trained Chiltern Hills I bet there would've been a lot more reaction on this forum.

There may/may not have been more reaction had it been someone else's but it is unlikely that the reaction would have come from yourself. The best thing I can say is we will have to agree to differ.

If being all out to beat Apache Jack is impressive in your book then fair enough, but imo if he comes up against anything with a modicum of ability in the near future he will be found out

I see The Lilliewhites had a big win today I would have thought that might have cheered you up!

Briar Hill reminds me of a Boston Bob type horse who will only ever do enough and will probably never win on the bridle,I'd say he's been expensive for the in running layers to date with his style of running/winning.

I haven't gone near it to date but while the jury is still out on its Festival Bumper success I would be loathe to lay it (particularly in running).

You know arkle I forgot about that game, I heard the wind and rain howling outside my sitting room window so I cuddled up on the couch for the afternoon, not a competition I'm overly bothered about, personally I'd scrap it altogether if I had my way.

I would defo be in agreement with workrider with regards Briar Hill ... Give me a horse that keeps finding for you anyday over a bridal horse .. How some people keep knocking  a horse who is unbeaten including the cheltenham bumper with the likes of The Liquadator and Regal Encore behind is beyond me , just because ruby isn t swinging off him and he races lazily at times .... Trainer and Jockey are always at pains to say he works ordinary at home hence why he was probably 25/1 for the cheltenham bumper last year .....
