Didn't have a bet in the race but that was pathetic.
Christmas present for Emmet from Willie maybe?

Drifted then smashed into 2/5 before the off. Horrific ride, he must have thought he was on a different horse. The ride was so wrong tho....like it didn't make any sense. Its like he never saw a race this horse has ever run.

What a bizarre statement from the original poster when Felix Yonger had hammered the winner over 3 furlongs shorter so why shouldn't Townend ride him for speed (not the phrase I would use).Although he has won over further, his best chasing performance have been over 2 miles on much better ground than today.

The real question as suggested by the Gotchee on WPM thread is why was he racing over 2m 3f at a naff, tight track with €23750 for the winner when there was a 2 mile(almost most important) race with €55,000 for the winner and €17,000 for the second being fought out by 2 horses he had trounced over 2 miles.

The following quote should have Graham Wylie scratching his head

After race at Punchestown Sun, 17th Nov, 2013 (1st) "That looked impressive to me. He's in the Drinmore, but that may come too quick for him. His jumping was very good at the business end. Ruby said he was idling in front which would lead you to believe there's more in the locker. We'll see how he comes out of this; I might put him by until Christmas as he had a tough race. I don't think he needs to go up in trip. I'd be happy to stay at two miles". W P Mullins

I'd suggest Graham Wylie is being taken for a spin like Ruby and Nicholls took him for one last year when pointing him towards running Tidal bay in the stayers rather than the Gold cup (before he got injured). Now Wylie wanted to run in the Gold Cup but Nicholls and Ruby had Silvnianci Conti for that and there wasn't any Big Bucks last year.Wylie must be easy going enough (being kind) to have allowed Howard Johnson pay 200k + for every Mark Prescott handicapper that ran up a sequence.

As for the suggestions of giving Emmet a spin for the Crimbo as Davy Russel once said FFS lads it's not Nicky Dee and Dromohane we're on about here.

Very good analysis dj. Mullins knows well where his bread is buttered and the Banker is with Mullins a lot longer than the English man.

It was poor from Townend I thought myself by letting the horse switch off too much but your question is the right one i.e what were they doing in Limerick in the first place

Surely Rich Ricci realises that Annie Power's best chance of festival success is the mares hurdle, she doesn't hurdle quick enough for the champion and the stayers will be a physically demanding race. However WPM will be more concerned about his legacy sorry I mean Quevega's legacy.

Surely Eddie O'Connell(owner of Un de Sceaux, don't know anything about him)realises that he should be running in the champion hurdle but I'll guarantee you if Hurricane Fly is impressive this weekend UDS won't be suited by the undulations at Cheltenham and the most sensible route would be to conserve him for Aintree and/or Punchestown which are less competitive but still have significant prize money.

How the owners who pay the bills let Mullins decide what race to run their horses is mind boggling,Fair enough if he chooses to run them in certain races for the right reasons,But we all know thats far from the truth.
