Reckon Caseys were hard done although I/we dont know everything but hope the horse is ok.

Possible although Martin's are running like drain's at the moment and that could be another possible reason for it's withdrawl.

Flemenstar is set to have a scan next week as connections seek to discover the extent of the problem that ruled him out of the John Durkan Chase at Punchestown.

The eight-year-old suffered a knock on his off-fore leg two days before last Sunday's big race and his trainer Tony Martin has been giving the injury time to settle down.

"He is good. There is no difference with him from last week. We will have more news with him when we get him scanned next week, so we will know a lot more then," said the County Meath handler.

"He got a bang last week, and we are just giving it plenty of time and cooling it out before we do any tests on him. The longer we give it, the better it will be for him."

Flemenstar won the John Durkan 12 months earlier when trained by Peter Casey but owner Stephen Curran sent him to Martin's stable in September.

I don't believe he was ever with Casey,he was just used as a flag of convenience.

In fairness Casey hardly inspired confidence. Look at his interviews on RTE. Harsh I know but such a lack of professionalism is hardly going to inspire an owner. You expect him to go to war with a top horse against the likes of Mullins, Nicholls, Henderson. Also the kneejerk reaction after the Lexus last year kind of hinted to me that Casey was out of his depth. The horse was narrowly beaten and Casey insisted he didn't stay and would run in the Champion Chase. I don't think you'd get Mullins reacting like that or indeed Tony Martin.

Brain that was my understanding as well and that Casey and his son wanted to go the short route early on.

Blake’s Blog: Disagreement In The Flemenstar Camp

All eyes will be on the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown on Saturday, with the rematch between Flemenstar and Sir Des Champs likely to divide racing fans right down the middle.

As mentioned in this blog after the Lexus, Flemenstar doesn’t look a natural three miler and Sir Des Champs looks to be steadily being brought to a peak for the Gold Cup, which leads this corner to favour the latter performer for Saturday’s big race.

However, as intriguing as the race is from a form perspective, an interesting angle emerged during Matt Chapman’s interview with Peter Casey for At The Races last week in which Casey revealed a split in opinion between himself and the Flemenstar’s owner Stephen Curran with regard to what is best for the horse.

Casey stated that, in his opinion, the best chance that Flemenstar has of getting the three miles trip in the Hennessy would be to drop in last and ride him conservatively, even though he admitted that doing that would probably lead to Andrew Lynch fighting to keep the bold-jumping free-going Flemenstar anchored as happened in the Lexus. However, Casey went on to say that he didn’t think the owner “would allow that”, as he favours a return to more aggressive riding tactics on Saturday.

Casey also said that what he would love to see is Flemenstar taking on Sprinter Sacre in the Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and one couldn’t help but sense his slight air of exasperation that Curran much prefers the Gold Cup as his potential festival target.

It is rare that such differences of opinion between owners and trainers become public knowledge and it is a prime example of the difficult balancing act that trainers often face with regard to their plans for their horses and the sometimes very different hopes that their owner has.

Of course, the owner pays the bills and is very much entitled to have his opinion heard and considered. In the case of Flemenstar, owner Stephen Curran and his family trained him to win a point-to-point and they pre-train him at the start of each season, which arguably entitles them to an even more significant say.

However, this corner agrees with Casey that Flemenstar will be seen to best effect under a positive ride over two miles and with many valuable prizes available to him over shorter trips later this season, hopefully he won't leave them behind him with a hard race at Leopardstown on Saturday
