So far have just backed Blixt in the CIMB, at 70s e.w. Will have a more in depth look tomorrow. De Jonge is interesting me there too. Be great to see Rory rediscover his form. Putting seemed to hold him back last week. Confidence is king on the greens. One win could be huge for his immediate future.
Backed Barca at 4-6, and Celtic at 6-4 tonight. Cant remember the last time I backed Celtic in Europe. Personally believe they are always over bet. Have been v unlucky in both games this year though. I had a good wager on Milan to beat them, think I was very lucky to collect. Hopefully a decent bet on Ebony Roc in the 8.10 can yield a nice boost to the balance to go to war with tomorrow!! Every chance on his all weather form, which the markets seems to have underestimated. Good e.w bet at 7s. |

No show there Huddys. Back to the ball.......
|
|
By:
no bother, did you do the double or just two singles?
|
|
By:
Was two singles Huddys. Broke even.
Went with Phil there at the last minute, 14.5 at the moment, surely too big. Main bets Jonas Blixt e.w at 70s, and De Jonge e.w at 50s. Few quid on Boo Weekley e.w at 120s. If Villegas wins this week, I will fuc*in cry!! In the Euro event, I felt obliged to have few quid on Rory due to his course form at 11. Main bets Luke Donald e.w at 18s, Shane Lowry e.w at 45s. Few quid e.w on my friend David Howell at 140, 20 on here. Kinda fancy Shane to have a big week this week. GL. Sky showing recorded coverage of CIMB after the Euro coverage finishes. |

Not an easy week but went with Uihlein, Sterne and Poulter in BMW. Not sure Poulter will produce as much as in the past couple of years. He seems to really play well after Ryder Cup heroics but his record speaks for itself. This is another track that could Gallacher and Dubuisson may have a big week.
Main bet was Uihlein. Matt Jones, Horschel and Kirk for me in CIMB. Not keen on the front of the market and good each way prices 5 places in 78 runner field like in the BMW. Cutting and pasting can take ages when you are trying to make it readable and it is late in the day with the tournaments about to start, so just the reasons behind main bets below. Good luck all! 35/1 Peter Uihlein: Nicolas Colsaerts was our headline selection in this event last year as the demands of the course looked a perfect fit for the Belgian. He was going a long way to justifying our faith in him until double bogeys at hole 16 and hole 17 in Round 3 effectively ended his event. For our main pick this week, we are going with another very powerful hitter in the 24 year old American Peter Uihlein. Uihlein has had an outstanding season and seems to be consistently improving as he gains more experience. He chose to leave the Web.Com Tour and gain experience on various courses throughout the world as part of his learning process and he is reaping the rewards of this bold decision. Uihlein currently sits 10th in the Race To Dubai and has moved up to 68th in the World Rankings on the back of a season that has produced a win in the Madeira Islands Open among seven Top 10 finishes on the European Tour. He has produced these efforts on a variety of courses, although the theme among nearly all of his best displays has been that the fairways have been quite generous and allow for a little bit more room off the tee. His recent second place finishes in the Dunhill Links Championship and the Wales Open were again on courses that do not place a premium on driving accuracy, but his 12th place finish in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth illustrates that he can compete on the tougher technical courses as well. A common theme among the venues that he has excelled at is that many of them are exposed venues that can be wind affected and that is precisely the case this week. The Lake Maralen course should suit a player that is one of the most powerful on the European Tour. Uihlein lies 5th in driving distance and while he is not the most accurate from the tee, all other parts of his game are excellent. He lies 48th in GIR, 18th in Putts Per GIR and 38th in Putts Per Round. His around the green game is likely to be examined thoroughly this week with the greens so well protected and 84th in Sand Saves and 79th in Scrambling show that he is solid in both departments. Uihlein’s iron play has improved significantly throughout the year and he was 8th in GIR at the Wales Open and 17th in the Dunhill Links where he produced outstanding golf to get into contention after an opening round of 71. Uihlein’s preparation for this event has been excellent as well as he has had a light schedule since the Dunhill Links, but he has managed to take in a tournament in the Far East and was 7th in the Tokai Classic in Japan. He has been back in America since that event working on his game and conditioning with Claude Harmon and David Donactucci while also enjoying the Boston Red Sox ALCS win over the Detroit Tigers. Refreshed and ready to play a course that looks ideal for him, Uihlein should be set for a strong week and he makes plenty of appeal at 35/1 with Stan James and Betfred with 5 places being paid each way in a field containing only 78 players. 80/1 Matt Jones: This is an event where the market is dominated by Phil Mickelson in single figures, closely followed by Sergio Garcia, Keegan Bradley and Hideki Matsuyama. None of these appeal at shortish prices with major doubts about how motivated Mickelson will be. Matsuyama appeals most of the four but he is now well found by odds compilers and experts and I am not sure there is any edge in 16/1 about him. At bigger prices Matt Jones is the first of our selections this week, although stakes will be reduced in an event that is not being screened live on Sky and makes much less appeal as a result with little in running opportunities on Betfair. 33 year old Jones looks really underrated this week and it is possible that this is simply on the back of a missed cut at the Frys Open. Prior to that he had produced some outstanding golf with an 8th place in the BMW Championship, 5th in the Wyndham, 7th in the John Deere Classic and 2nd in the Greenbrier. Jones also produced some excellent displays on tough technical courses such as when 6th in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village and 18th in the Honda Classic. Jones is steady in all parts of his game and ranked 45th in Driving Accuracy in 2013, 64th in Greens In Regulation, 66th in Strokes Gained Putting, 8th in Scrambling, 52nd in Par Breakers and importantly he was 12th in Round 1 Scoring Average and 12th in Scoring Average before the cut. He is a traditional fast starter that is very accurate with his irons and an excellent around the green player with a solid putting strike. Furthermore Jones has finished 14th in the Puerto Rico Open in 2013 and 5th in 2012. The latter is significant as it was easily his best display in 2012 even if it was against a much weaker field than is the norm for the PGA Tour. At 80/1 with ****, Stan James and Ladbrokes, Jones is our first selection this week. The each way odds are again in our favour with 5 places being paid in a much smaller field than is usually the case for a PGA Tour event. |

Up early to watch abit of the golf before heading off to work, did you not back Pod deplasterer?
|
|
By:
Read your swot yesterday as said DV,followed you small with Uihlein, good start, hopefully alarm clock going on Sunday morning.
Not a bad start by Boo for you either Callit in the other one. |

Looks like the course played very difficult in Shanghai.
Wind was very strong and it is supposed to be the same again tonight. I only caught the end of it as I was watching Game 1 of the World Series and thought it was best to grab a couple of hours. At least Uihlein is bang there now after being +2 after 3 holes. Some very poor performances from some of the better players. |

Can't have Pod for betting purposes any longer huddys, having said that he outscored my picks easily this morning, hopefully can manage a top ten this week for a confidence booster going forward. McIlroy back swinging well again, could be worth following the next few weeks but the odds will be prohibitive more than likely.

Did you watch it this morning DP? Was considering topping ip on Rory. Half because my other picks are fuc*ed, and half because i cant see Guthrie or Daly figuring, so the lead in effect is only 3 under. Lot of big names have blown their chance already. Not hard to see Rory winning this one. If he gets a bit of confidence with the putter he will be winning very soon.
No bet on Pod either, but if he is in contention after 54, i be up early on Sunday to roar him home!! |

Strange that they have decided to put the players out in Round 2 based on their scores from first day.
Uihlein now playing late on both days. I think the wind is expected to be constant most of the day though and he will get to watch game 2 at Fenway so that is not a bad thing! |
|
By:
Strange indeed, could potentially have led to a huge bias.

Just saw a half hour or so but McIlroy seemed to be driving it well. Took 9.6 as Donaldson is fried. Did Pod in his 3 ball think he is decent price and should beat Molinari and Jamieson in the wind.
