Great racing tomorrow, really looking forward to it. I think Slade Power will come of age. Dalkala is no slouch either. Maxios could be a bit special. Ruler of the world didn't get the best of runs in the Arc, I'll give him another chance. Regal Parade should go well in the apprentice handicap. Thats my e/w lucky 31 G.L.

dj after throwing all the runners into a bowl i have picked the following out for ascot and cheltenham
3.45 chelt: Becauseicouldntsee 16/1...... 2.55 ascot:The Lark 8/1...... i crossed my fingers when picking these from the bowl so am quite hopeful this ew double could oblige......i will roll my winnings onto burren to beat kilcoo on sunday..... |

Ascot 13.45 can't see beyond Estimate and have bet accordingly, thought this would be the ideal race and conditions for Rite of Passage to finally make his long awaited reappearance! Any updates on RoP? I'm sure he must have been left off by now.

Dawn Approach will love the straight mile.Did Smullen really pick Pale Mimosa over Voleuse De Coeurs in the Irish leger?
|
|
By:
Dalkala , 14.55...Trainer seldom brings one over unless its got a big chance ..Soumillion not everyones fav jockey , but on his day few better ...Dalkala will love the ground , and is already a group 1 winner....Talent needs a strong gallop to show her best , and not sure to get that today....

Starting to become a fan of the one eyed Eye of the Storm and the way he seems to keep finding, think he will be well suited by the 2m, maybe the proximity of Leah Claire in his last couple of runs is a negative still think a good ew alternative to the fav.
Surprised Modista is 4/1 in Mallow,s 5.25,thought she would be a fair bit less, her two stylish wins were split with a run where she was a bit keen, needs cover, good move i think for K P to have put the claimer on her. GL with your punts. |

13.35 Kelso
Frankie Promise (7/2 Coral ew)-(price won't last long if you can get on) A tad risk averse to be betting each way at this price but it's an effective policy in maiden hurdles. He has won 2 bumpers and the horse that was third to him(carried penalty) at Perth has since won a novice hurdle(mystertree). Play agains form has taken a couple of knocks with none of the placed horses having obliged since and think there is a bit of value in taking him on. |
|

Creepy is highly regarded by Keighley and would be shorter in the first at Cheltenham if with a more fashionable trainer. Took the 9/2 BOG.
Top Notch Tonto has been supplemented at 65K for the fillies mile. Probably not good enough but will go on the ground and form is on a par with some a lot shorter than her. Hoping it makes the first 3, 4.0 here place. GL. |
|
By:
DJ, re Frankie's Promise,no doubt you already saw this from McCain, who has a good line on Frankie through Greensalt.
Kelso 13.35 2m Maiden Hurdle - Plan Again The form of his bumper win hasn't worked out particularly well but that's not his fault - he won well enough and he probably hit the front sooner than ideal. I don't think he would want too much rain but he's ready to go and this looks the right sort of race for him to start off in. I don't think there's a great deal in there against him and hopefully he will run a big race. As I say, the ground could be a concern as I am sure he wouldn't want it too soft but the owners are local and I would think he will run whatever. |
|
By:
I would imagine the ground refers to Plan agains run at Lisronagh where he wasn't able to pick up on heavy ground but his ptp form is decent.
I wasn't impressed with his Mussleburgh bumper win-he was all out to win a moderate race, though the second hasn't run since-the rest of the field have ran deplorably since. No doubt he deserves to be favourite but think he's too short at evens. Frankie's promise Bumper form isn't bad in the context of this race-giving 7lbs and a 10 length beating to a subsequent winner, just think he's overpriced. |

Very difficult races at Ascot even the likes of New Approach and Cirrus look vulnerable, could well win easy but are you willing to lump on them?.
If Farhh is back to his best he's a huge danger, I think the trip might be a little sharp for ROTW, I know the horse got buffeted a bit in the Arc before staying on past beaten horses but he got badly outpaced anyway when the pace quickened. Had an ew Times Up in the staying race at least he's in decent form and Hawkeyethenoo in the sprint as that bloody Segal ruined the price on Cape of Approval, other than that it should be an enjoyable watching brief. Everton, QPR, and Leyton Orient in a football treble, Leicester and Peterboro were tempting for a 5 timer. |
|
By:
Backed Estimate in the first at 3.15. Expect her to win, but have also had a small win and place on Pale Mimosa at 19/5.8.
Cirrus Des Aigles now looks a punting proposition at 2.84. Backed him in King George at same price when hoping he would return to his best. He now appears to be back at that pinnacle, even allowing for his two main dangers the last day flopping, and apart from Farhh who has question marks of his own, he should be able to carry the rest of them home. Sirius Prospect looks a good place bet at 6.6 in the sprint. Third in the race last year, after a very disappointing season, he has been in better from this time around. The ground and likely frantic pace set this up nicely for him. Tanks for That e.w in the 2.35 Chelt only other bet at the moment. GL all. |

Johnny Murtagh - carried it home! Brilliant
|
|
By:
What a strange race, horses that looked totally out with the washing and going nowhere all of a sudden started to stay on in the last furlong, that ground looks pretty desperate to me.
|
|
By:
Unbelievable Murtagh. wd lapsy with your one eyed place!
|
|
By:
He is something else, every weekend for the last couple of months seems to be riding a big race big priced winner.
Might be a few more shocks with that ground. |

Lads cheltenham on setanta for those interested ....

Plus kelso...

Thanks a million for that workrider .. brilliant stuff. A lot of respect for the lads on here, some very knowledgeable posts.

no prob jack , now go back some winners...

By:
Looks like Kingbarns had his weetabix today after their disgraceful piece of hoodwinking in the Irish Champion Stakes.
|
|
By:
Lot of horses not handling that ground at Ascot, think Bubbly Bellini in the last will like it,at 50,s on the exchanges think he will run better than that price.
|
|
By:
WD.Deplasterer-nice each way double-they didn't pay 70k for nought and acted on the ground.
That Fontwell maiden hurdle that Kings Palace won looks very decent now -kaki de la pree will prob. be a short price when next out. I wonder did the Wildman place lay Dawn Approach today-it's been a long season since Newmarket in May?? Taking a sabbatical from the forum-getting involved in too many petty rows which are pointless and a waste of time. Champion stakes should be a fascinating race. |
|
By:
Cheers DJ, couldn't understand price, puts me up for the week thankfully. All the best, but should keep posting as you know your stuff on the GG's, helps part timers like me.

top notch tonto done you a favour today, strange looking horse

Shocker of a thread. Compounded by the news that DJ has been hounded off the forum
![]() |
|
By:
Poor results overall and a bookies day,my own picks ran brutal.
Not hounded off imo, can understand having a break and just concentrating on your betting rather than getting sidetracked by the forum.WD with Tonto the wonder mustang DEP. |
|
By:
Didn't go to town on the horses today only had 2 small ew bets, damn Millwall equalising in the 93rd minute against QPR cost me a nice few quid, never happens the other way round when you're waiting on somebody to score.
|
|
By:
How is this a shocker of a thread?
The Gotchee started us off with a sweet 7/1 winner,Deplasterer got his each way double up. Because these two modest men don't engage in self praise its somehow assumed they are not getting winners. |
|
By:
Gotchee's bet was only one winning leg of a lucky 31.
No sure where you got the idea that Dep's was an ew double. No mention of a double, second bet was a place bet, no win component. No idea if Creepy was an ew, it may have been. Very difficult day all round. Lot more losers than winners on here. No point in polishing a turd, |
|
By:
johns spirit / balthazar king / dark lover / those three where good horses last year if my memory serves me well, all winning today
