I neither back or lay on this track as I think its a law onto itself so I hope you don't think it hypocritical to start a betting thread.

Tramore 3.15
Billy Buster was second in Gowran seven lengths back to the third is to be raised 5 pound in the future but still gets in here off bottom weight,we know him to be in form and he is a front runner on a front runners track.

Tramore 3.45
Another handicap and bearing in mind the quirkiness of the course we have four previous course winners but the one I like is the dual course winner Chebona Bula looks to be coming back into form and his third here in the festival is a real good run.

Tramore 4.15
Novice and beginners chases are the best betting races for me but strangely here I am opposing the favourite here with the outsider Cnoc Na Sioga, this Westerner gelding won his maiden hurdle in Tramore likes the good ground, the favourite is returning after a fall is a negative as is his having some inexplicable bad runs although he did win his bumper in Tramore.

Tramore 4.45
Zane Grey for me here,he is by Flemensfirth will love the drying ground but most importantly is trained by Henry de Bromhead who teaches his horses to jump.
The danger is Coldstonesober who won his maiden hurdle in Tramore.

Tramore 5.15.
Lash It On this is one you want to see the money for before you back it,landed a fair gamble in Downpatrick and in typical Byrnes fashion had stones in hand would have won a distance but for a bad mistake 10 pound won't stop him.

Had a look at this at lunchtime, pretty awful card gnu. Had a token bet on Wilde Sapphire in the first.

3.15 Billybuster had hard race on soft ground first run this year.  Wont win.  Do The Bookies t/f from Shark.  Elliott will get a stone improvement from him.

3.45 Derrylea Girl

4.15 Agree.  Dont like fav

4.45 Zane Grey cert.  Did me a huge favour when winning at Wexford after being an eyecatcher on many occasions on soft ground.

5.15 Agree

The only one I like is Billybuster, looks like they want to strike while the iron is hot in what is a typical poor Tramore h/cap.
Report Bigwillystyle October 10, 2013 2:27 PM BST
Thats why your bitter Silver.  Losing your nuts every day.  Dont back Billybuster

Interesting to see money for Fahey/Mangan mare in bumper, caught the eye a little on debut at Roscommon where she ran in rear for most the race before taking closer order around final bend  and looked to have a sweek of winning in home straight before flattening out in last half furlong. Well fancied stable companion (5/2 fav) finished in third in a race that admittedly has not worked out all that well. I will have a little on today as money from this shrewd operation is often well placed ,coupled with Jane Mangans skill and claim plus the 5 lb mares allowance makes her attractive in a race where the other main players have had loads of chances and dont have the scope to improve like the selection. ...Hope she gets a decent start.Grin

Plenty of praise for the win in the OP...ok, grand.

Someone points out the 4/5 losers..Lapsy jumps to his leaders defence (even using one of his Leader's stock phrases, worryingly) saying that they were only hypothetical selections

You can't have it both ways.
Report Ozymandius October 10, 2013 5:53 PM BST
Lapsy would throw himself under a bus for his Leader, it seems.  Troubling imo.
Report pa lapsy October 10, 2013 5:55 PM BST

Of all my posts on here that is far and away my worse and its one I apologise for.

I should have left well alone but was trying to make a positive contribution however recommending bets on a track you don't bet on is not a good start.

The bit on the 5.15 race is the most embarrassing as that was just drivel, well I knew the trainer and I just hope that people will have realised not a stable you can back, the watch the market caveat is not practical for many and is generally an excuse for the lazy.

Despite my earlier declaration I broke my own rule and laid Passage Vendome so there is some poetic justice there.

how does lash it ons trainer explain that run?or will anyone ever ask?!
Report wildmanfromborneo October 10, 2013 6:08 PM BST
I wasn't the only one that had a bad day.
That starter didnt cover himself in glory neither did the stewards when they interviewed him without telling the runners in the next that the starter was otherwise engaged.
Charles Byrnes horse drifting from 2.4 to 4 on here and running accordingly another low point.
Finally the lad doing the 9.9 difficulty dive to get away from the trampling hooves wasn't feeling too good after his escapades.
Report RoyalAcademy October 10, 2013 6:15 PM BST
wildman, i can never really understand the practice of putting up a list of "fancies" on a race-by-race basis as this is what the racing hack industry is all about and its only done to fill newsprint. this is not an attack but just an observation that 20-20 vision will usually show up way too many flaws in the reasoning e.g. who the hell could ever know what CB is up to with a horse that wins the last day probably unfancied and today 2/1 BF could mean anything.

I just dont like the practice of fancying a horse in every race (as its impossible without hours if not days of hard work) so I'm happy if I fancy a couple during your average week. I'd much rather read a detailed piece on a single horse but if I'm any guide who's gonna give away all their work on a public forum? You do it occasionally maybe, but thats all and, for me, thats the dilemma about here.
Report kingkauto October 10, 2013 6:17 PM BST
Oufies I backed the Fahey mare in the bumper too, thought the debut run was low key. Rounding the bend it looked like the race was there for the winning but she seemed to hang pretty badly towards the stand in the straight. Might be one to be wary of next time...
Report wildmanfromborneo October 10, 2013 6:19 PM BST
That's a fair observation.

I read all contributions and sometimes someone might mention something relevant about a race that you have overlooked,I certainly remember BJG doing it one day and winning me a few quid.

I have already apologised for my contribution on the Charles Byrnes horse.
Report RoyalAcademy October 10, 2013 6:39 PM BST
that's what I mean and I'll give you three recent examples of my own (I part-posted this on another blog recently):

1. A poster on another forum was hugely interested in Harry Kelly's good bumper mare making her hurdling debut in Listowel that you had to take notice. Having run third I'm expecting big things from her now myself.

2. Robert Cooper's journalism is quirky (and syndicated to IF among others) but he recently wrote about distinguishing tips and racecourse gossip from something more substantial: an interview conducted with Henry Candy who was really keen on one of his 2yo's. The horse disappointed but Candy always said he was a 3yo so he's high on my list for 2014.

3. I pulled up an article recently quoting Kevin Prendergast's plans for La Collina and how he was favouring the Matron Stakes over a mundane G3 at the Curragh. "Tilting at windmills" would have been my reaction unless I had gone to the effort of asking myself "why" or remembering the mare had ran an excellent fourth in the same G1 in 2012. 25/1  was way too big as a result imo

Sometimes the clues are there.

Report wildmanfromborneo October 10, 2013 7:48 PM BST
The 5.15 race is worthy of comment with regards the betting, the favourite Lash It On was friendless( stable lad at it again) and ran accordingly yet he still started 2/1 in fact he shortened from 9/4 just at the off,six other horses shortened in that race.
Whoever was responsible for shortening the favourite was both shrewd and stupid, stupid for bothering but clever enough to not bother to try and shorten it here.
Report pa lapsy October 10, 2013 8:03 PM BST
One lay of over 3k was put up on the daq at 3.9(ish) very near the off hence the post it was smelly i made on the off(normally have bf next to it but not for that race). Can be a good indicator that place with smelly ones at times imo.
Think you are right tis a track to avoid particulary if you are a backer.
Report neill d October 10, 2013 10:24 PM BST
Heard this evening that they fancied the Fahey horse pretty strongly, just watched the replay there and wondered did Jane maybe go a little soon. It is one that can win a bumper but if they don't do it in the next month, they might as well leave it off till next summer.
