I was at the u.c.d v st pats match last night and have to say it brought back some great memories of league of ireland games many moons ago, the Craic was great, i look forward to sunday week at richmond park[ v sligo] to see if the SAINTS can win the league since 98/99 season.      Iknow that league of ireland football is not at the top of the pecking order in the irish sport forum but its nice to remember the hard work behind the scenes to keep the irish public interested...... P.S. WORKRIDER good luck to the hoops in the cup.Happy

Thanks Frank , i'm really looking forward to the game tomorrow , should be a cracker , delighted the atmosphere was good , most underrated sport in Ireland imo ...Barstoolers have our game fooked , they would rather sit in the pub and chant like a bunch of Cockneys than make their way to a game ..We only have ourselves to blame if i'm honest , some loi grounds are a health hazard ...The saints should do the business alright , and good luck to them...

Richmond Park hosted Ireland's first ever outdoor rock festival on September 4, 1970. Headlined by Mungo Jerry, the lineup also featured one of the earliest performances of the then recently formed Thin Lizzy. A crowd of several thousand had been expected but, in the event, widespread rumours of a Garda drugs bust and poor weather kept the attendance to an estimated 800.[2].....Happy   In recent years, St Patrick's Athletic have considered moving from Richmond Park and building a new ground at the nearby St Michael's estate but something called financially difficulties put pay to that dream.

Workrider sry to hear the hoops got beat by Sligo , maybe St pats can beat sligo next sunday , we have to keep some silverwear in dublin this year,Happy

Rumours of a ground share with Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght.

In 2005, the board of St. Patrick's Athletic F.C. spoke to their fans about a potential move to a new municipal stadium in Tallaght where they would share with Shamrock Rovers. Outraged by this, the club's fans revolted and a pressure group called 'Pats for Richmond' was set up to mobilise and organise opposition to the plan. In July 2006, St. Pats board of directors gave a clear indication of staying put by purchasing local pub Richmond House (also known as McDowells) in order to give the club's fans a social base.

Giant i dont know the current Situation 8years later but a big number of the ST PATS fans would object, Time will tell m8

A chap that follows Pats was telling me about this.

Tallaght would be too big a ground for them to be fair.
Report GANT007 October 6, 2013 8:16 PM BST
Sure they might pick up a bit of extra support around Tallaght...........It worked for Shamrock Rovers.
