We all ready upped the weights in Ireland to 8st4, but you could still ride at 7st11 in Britain and nobody was knocking the door down in Britain for change?.

Paulie can be a bit abrupt at times,everything he said was right on the pricing up thread and he was adamant all through it,i can respect that. That thing with WR don,t really get it as he is another good guy,not much point in giving abuse in an anonymous forum really.

I'm sure Joseph is a lovely chap too but lets be honest pa he really shouldn't be riding, the only reason he's riding is because powerful nepotism outed.

Lets be honest if Joseph O'Brien didn't exist do you think the Irish authorities would've bothered their backside to up the weights once again?

theres a general feeling among jockey welfare groups that raising the weight  bit is the way to go.maybe ireland is taking the lead on this.to suggest that its happening to accomodate joseph o brien is laughable and defies logic.your dislike of all things successful(the o brien family,wp mullins)is astounding.is it jealousy or are you just like that!?

Got a great break through his dad granted but he isn,t letting him down, good horses granted but he is talented Silver,he would be gone otherwise given the sums of money involved.
Can,t answer your question definitively but think it is fairly plausible they could have risen them even if he weren,t around.

I never slagged off Joseph as a jockey he can ride but then again so can many others but when the earth is moved to accomodate, then I have a problem with the people who claim to be a regulatory body?

ruby walsh and paul carberry are two of the greatest ever nh jockeys.their fathers were great jockeys before them.if they werent their fathers sons would they have been ever discovered?of course being aidans son helped him.but hes not letting them down?..hes  a fine jockey.

Well he is given his years,the likes of Kinane,Murtagh,Carson,Eddery generally had to wait until their later years(40ish) to get probabably their rightful acclaim(always talented),though accept the younger brigade nowadays Moore,O,Brien and going to include King are exceptionally talented jockeys.

Gather you are a Clareman Kavvie,well done with the hurling,ye were very good and well deserved the win.

ryan moore joseph o brien and william buick are 3 fine young jockeys.wouldnt mind any of the 3 riding one for me!..add in connor king and oisin murphy and the future is bright..

Contrary to popular opinion I never slagged off joseph as a jockey the guy can ride, its the politics behind the raising of the weights that leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Jockeys are dehydrating in order to meet weight requirements,their restricted diet means they are getting half the calcium they should and for a 17 year old that isnt good, a normal person continues to grow until 20. Austrailia also has risen weights and America races with higher weights also. 85% of the British Jockeys Association would also support a rise in weights. Simply a health issue that is rightly being addressed.

ah pa c'mon they used to ride at 7st7, and yet they thought the need to raise the weights for group and condition races whcih was never a problem????, funny isn't it its these races that Coolmore farm, c'mon pa you're not that naive are you? to make excuses for the most blatant corruption you will ever see?.

Tommy Carberry was a great jockey in his day but Ted Walsh was average or maybe a bit above average but never great

Agree re Ted mrcombustible , and would have received a whip ban every other day if he were riding now  ..

Well Ted was an amateur still a fierce man on a bumper fav,you wouldn,t want anyone else up.
