fair comment, nice post, im abig al kazeem fan, but I was @York and I do think he may have had enough for the year ?..he did look like he was cruising and as you say the ground is key..but I do think the wins have taken there toll..and imo he needs a break..i hope im wrong ..if the rain comes then good luck..

I think just too many races on ground quicker than ideal Tony. Ya can get away with a couple of times, but they will soon say no more. In addition to that, he may have been short of a gallop, and slightly undercooked that day. It appeared to a bit of an afterthought, with it looking easy pickings before Toronado was supplemented. Should be a cracking card, i think Free Eagle goes for the group 3. It will be the last group 3 he runs in.

Call it. The forecast looks pretty grim for over the weekend. |

Are you going out to leopardstown callitasucit?very good write up.

No, working Sat Huddys. I usually go to this meet every year, but have missed the last two. Some cracking renewals down the years. Galileo v Fantastic Light will live long in the memory.

The lads will make sure there isn't much watering given DOW is their main hope. if it is genuinely quick then I fancy the Fugue is the best of these. Gosden was genuinely gutted with her run before they found she was all wrong and I'd say on her day and given her conditions, she is the best of these. I know she wasn't beating colts but the manner of her Nassau and Yorkshire Oaks wins suggest a serious horse.

|
By:
Yeah, I would have backed her to beat DOW and the rest on fast ground, but soft is more likely than good-firm at the moment. Probably end up about yielding-soft by race time.

Is it, oh right, glad I didn't back her today then. She ran well in last years Yorkshire Oaks on horrible ground, Shareta only mugged her. If she drifts to a stupid price I might still get involved. Even on bad ground she might still be a back to lay as they will struggle to get her off the bridle before the 2 pole.

Anyone else old enough to remember Dr Devious pipping St Jovite in this way back in the day? Absolute belter of a race.
Tend to agree with OP on Al Kazeem for this year so fingers crossed |
|
By:
It's not that long ago Mr Mischief! I am sure there are many here that watched it in the Park let alone Leopardstown.
That was a belter of a race and the year before was a demonstration of sheer class by Suave Dancer. |

It wasn't Christy's finest hour on St Jovite. I was about 12 or 13 at the time, remember having a 5 pound straight trio done, St Jovite to beat Dr Devious and im pretty sure a rag from Clive Brittains called Alflora to be third. I wasn't impressed with Roches lack of vigour in the saddle!! I think Kooyonga from Michael Kauntze yard might have been 4th. What a field!!

I was there that day as well , i also backed backed St Jove , couldn't believe he was beat , went to the unsaddling enclosure and watched DR Dev been tested ...thinking to myself htf did you get up and beat my fellow ...Not chrisys finest hour indeed...

I would have been about 13 as well maybe that's why it feels like such a long time ago. Used to spend my days then studying timeform and listening to Kurt Cobain
. Would St Jovite have been Bolgers 1st Gr 1 horse? |
