Don't always accept the one sided view presented by the media,Kimmage has been given a free run and is carrying on a vendetta,he has had soft interviews promoting his books and was being lauded by the usual RTE sycophant.

Kimmage is also a powerful litigious gentleman as any previous posts of mine not towing the party line were swiftly deleted.

Have a read of yesterday's press release on the UCI website about the "proposal by the Malaysian Federation to make a permanent change to Article 51 of the UCI rules".  Then give your honest opinion as to how this proposed change looks to a casual observer.

Amazing to see how well respected Patrick is in the cycling strongholds of Thailand and Morocco.  Even more amazing to see that it has just been announced yesterday (and this morning by the great man on radio) that he had received nominations from these federations.  Must like his oriental food does Patrick.

The way it looks to me is that Cookson is afraid of democracy and doing everything to prevent McQuaid getting on the ballot paper.

McQuaid annoyed someone he had helped both financially and otherwise,this led to an unprincipled campaign to blame him for cyclings doping past.

If ever a sport needed a Kimmage, David Wlash and that French journalist to expose the systematic doping of its competitors it was the rancid sport of cycling, probably even more rancid than weightlifting?, virtually all of its so called champions are tainted.

I can't understand how anyone can knock someone for exposing drug cheating backhanders and cover ups, in fact its a pity racing hadn't got a few journalists like them.

David Walsh is a superb investigative journalist. All of those with a genuine love for the sport of cycling owe him a debt.

Don't believe Walsh has been bought out by Sky. Whether he is right about them being clean is another thing. Froomes improved performances are difficult to explain. Virtually impossible to believe anyone in cycling anymore (or ever?)

Its just an acceptance of reality and it has always been so.

Sports that lack skill are susceptible to drug use whether it be an alleged supplement creatine or the hard stuff it can be a thin line.

I don't think anyone doubts it's the reality but you still shouldn't knock someone for exposing drug cheats, irrespective of motive etc

BTW Kimmage has his doubts about Sky and has likened Wiggin's responses to some awkward questions to Armstrong's responses back in the day

Another good reason for supporting Pat McQuaid is the sneering pompous Eamonn Sweeney is naturally against him.
He omits to tell his readers that he is a friend of Paul Kimmage and biased.

Sweeney wrote a very funny book about 10 yrs ago - 'The Road to Croker'. Youd enjoy it

A third term as president of UCI is looking extremely unlikely as the Swiss cycling federation(Mcquaid has residency there)are set to withdraw their nomination.
Apparently McQuaid is now  seeking to receive a nomination from the Thai or Morrocan federations.

should try the iranian federation......wonks would put in a good word......he knows some big hairy Iranians......

Time is nearly up for Pat. Boo F****** Hoo. Being hated by a certain journalist(who i dont like by the way) and RTE (who i also dont like) is hardly good reason to be head of a sports governing body.

I am no fan of McQuaid but I agree with Wildman. Throw him on the Ballot paper form Morocco and if they still want him knowing that Ireland and Switzerland (his 2 homes) think he is no good and they still want him then they are welcome.
Anyway who is to say the English guy is the answer to cycling's problem.

The only thing is at least we don't know for sure the English guy is an **** whereas we know for certain that McQuaid is

An Irishman heading a major sports body should be a cause for celebration.

I don't like him for 2 reasons

2. I admit I take the Kimmage line. If Kimmage wants him out that is enough for me
