Anyone else think this lad should be favourite tomorrow??. He beat Rathlin easily in Naas last season and although there's a 9lb swing id be surprised if the form was turned around considering HC should be better suited to this trip, fresh as paint going into tomorrow and 1st time cheek pieces to help keep his eye on the ball too!!!!  Woolcombe Folly is surely a doubtful stayer having to go up that steep hill twice and im sure Russell will be bowling along infront on Rathlin so even though it's a small field the race shouldn't be run at a crawl. Dantes King has nicked a few soft races in Perth lately but has never seemed to be the heartiest of battlers before. Canaly shouldn't, on all known form be quite up to winning this particular contest and Whered YA Hide it hasn't shown anything of note. All and all I think 5/2, 11/4 is very fair and I expect a good run for my doe tomorrow. (hopefully)Excited

Very good synopsis Joe , My own fancy is Woolcombe  Folly in that race . I disagree with your statement that he's a doubtful stayer , in fact I think the extra distance will suit , SHARK , thinks the world of this fellow , but to me he has failed to progress at the rate i once thought he would...My few bob is on RUBYS mount tomorrow...

Hidden Cyclone that is ...

Yeah maybe he might be staying a bit better now that he is that bit older but Market Rasen is as flat as a pancake and to me he didn't seem to want to be going much further lto. Can see him looming up over the last but the final climb will be to much for him to take. Gets a handy 7lb off the Cyclone though so that may count for something.  Are they giving much/any rain for tomorrow Workrider??

Shark's horses look very light at present..paddock inspection essential.
Report Bigwillystyle July 29, 2013 11:54 PM BST
Of course they are light. They get the u know what galloped out of them at home. If Shark didn't train him he wouldnt even be in Galway. He should be a grade 1 winner. But being trained by shark has scuppered that. Cheek pieces added tomorrow. Horse has been ruined!
Report guru m July 30, 2013 12:24 AM BST
How many has he in training? He still has loads of runners for a guy with the worst strike rate of the top 50 trainers.
Report G Hall July 30, 2013 10:07 AM BST
the rain won't suit woolcombe
Report newco-Joe67 July 30, 2013 10:45 AM BST
It was bucketing down last night over course and is very cloudy now

Cyclone plotted up imo and the Shark (who I mormally take no notice of) said in an interview last week they chose this race for him rather than the plate. Stable form the only concern bit a previous course winner and I'll back it. I don't fancy the Englsih horse at all and it smacks of desperation from Nicholls coming over. Forget about the Ground he wouldn't come up the hill anyway

Rathlin looks much improved this year, jumping slicky and may get a soft lead here.
Report Swardean July 30, 2013 5:35 PM BST
I think it took it a year to get over being with Rothwell
Report silvergreaser July 30, 2013 5:45 PM BST
What the hell was wrong with the horses form when with Rothwell, ony disapointed once in 6 runs for Philip , ran a cracker at Cheltenham at 40/1, 2nd in grade 2 at Fairyhouse?.
Report Swardean July 30, 2013 5:55 PM BST
Less than 10 winners from over 300 runners in 2011.   I just don't rate the trainer, and the removal of the Gigginstown horse, suggest I am not alone.
Report silvergreaser July 30, 2013 5:58 PM BST
But his training of rathlin is certainly not an example to knock him as he done very little wrong with the horse.
Report Swardean July 30, 2013 6:04 PM BST
Understand your point although impossible to say where he would be now if still with Philip or where we would be if started with Mouse.

Anyway, nice performance today and bright future ahead
Report workrider July 30, 2013 6:16 PM BST
The winner won really well ....
Report Bigwillystyle July 30, 2013 6:23 PM BST
Silver every evidence suggests the horse would now be running in 3 mile handicap chases off a mark in the 90's in a pair of blinkers and sour to boot if Rothwell still had it.  There was a reason it was taken away and that reason he is rubbish
Report silvergreaser July 30, 2013 6:30 PM BST
As I said to swardean he done eff all wrong with this horse if your going to knock him pick a better example bigwill.
