7.45 SARATOGA BABY been in decent form only had the one win but may just be up to winning this weak affair? 8.35 FITZGUTENYTE course winner and has a lower chase mark..she should be in the mix good luck all
Down Royal 8.50 Solo Performer 16/1 Don't think anyone could consider this fav at evens, Conor King's claim brings this one right into the equation. Won around here twice before and 1m4 is her distance she just needs to run a few lbs above her rating to collect

Wasn't mine just backed it on information but have to admit thought the horse was going to throw it away with some dodgy jumping.
Got 7's this morning so will pay for tomorrows action.

Yeah neill a feast of racing next week, both minefields mind you, Galway is a laid out for the meeting nightmare, but which ones?, as for Goodwood great racing but a nightmare of a track for hold up runners in bigger fields, but of course we cant help ourselves and we'll still have a punt.

Can't get involved myself, Goodwood will really suit Toronado as he travels so well but I've a feeling DA is a harder, better horse. Titanic battle between the 2 best milers in Europe for me. Hopefully we get them and Intello together at Ascot in October.

There is a jockey giving an exhibition in Down Royal, I have studied him carefully on every one of his mounts ,purposely making sure to have no bet in the races he has ridden in. He truly is the worst rider with no claim that is currently riding. As for Robert Power,i had a few quid on him last night on Cailin Annamh and it was the straw that broke the camels back,as he is now along with my friend in Down Royal safely locked away in room 101 and not due for release for a very long time.

I'm not sure if you ever saw the ride Geraghty gave Essex in the 2005 what was then the Pierse Hurdle neill?, he steadied Essex so much the horse virtually stopped to a walk at the last as such he nearly lost a race he should've won easily, the horse just about pulling enough out in the last 50 yards to fend off Mansony it was the most cowardly piece of riding I'd ever seen and this only a hurdle race. Yes I had a good bet on Essex and couldn't believe what I was seeing.

With Power, the absolute best you can hope for is that he doesn't mess up as he is never likely to do you a favour. That mare would have won last night with most on her (Chilten hills incidently hasn't always been the most resolute herself in the past, probably had a breathing opp last winter).
He nearly decked that Cailin Annamh on hurdling debut at Wexford, I don't know how she stood up that day, still he rides enough good horses that I can't just say 'no', I'm not backing anything he's on.
Cailin Annamh is entered in a decent novice hurdle at Galway next week, I'd still be interested in her chances. Hopefully Geraghty will have the choice as if he picks her over Our Man Zebo (much better than the winning margin over Lady of Glencoe last time), that might be a tip in itself. Willie Mullins has Ballylongford in it who I don't rate and meade's benemeade is probably a bit soft.

What it is all about I guess, pity that horse got injured, never came back the same but they got some great days out of him. Jeez, Michael O'Brien gone as well now, game moves very quickly.

WELL DONE SILVERGREASER , Great tipping , I remember that ride on essex ...Barry was going through a pretty bad time if i remember correct ,in fact i thought his nerve had gone , but he returned a better jockey as time went on ...LEBLON let me down for a yankee ...still there's always tomorrow...

Barry Geraghty is in the top 5 jockeys that ever threw their leg over a horse,he was always brilliant and is as good as ever today. He never went through any lean spell ,he rode his first Cheltenham winner in 2002 aged 23 and has rode at least one winner at every single festival since . This imaginary dip in form is pure and utter nonsense,a great rider who has ridden 28 Cheltenham winners, some of which nobody else would have won on.

ffs jimmeen you amaze me , ONLY THE OTHER DAY YOU SAID YOU NEVER TAKE A JOCKEYS FORM INTO CONSIDERATION....LET ME TELL YOU LAD, BARRY HAD A DIP , IN FACT IT LOOKED AT ONE STAGE AS IF HIS BOTTLE HAD GONE .FAIR PLAY TO THE MAN HE CAME THROUGH....

Workrider, as I told you before we are on a completely different wavelength. I never once said I don't take a jockeys form into consideration,as in my opinion there is no such thing as jockeys form, either a jockey is a good one or he isn't. Maybe jockeys ride with confidence when they are riding winners which can be a help sometimes, but most of them are confident anyway, alot of the time misplaced confidence. Barry Geraghty never had a dip in form, and his bottle was never ever in question, well at least not to anybody who knows anything about racing. Starting with Moscow Flyer in 2002,he has been imperious at the Cotswolds,Inching Closer,Iris's Gift,Kicking King,Cork All Star,Finger On The Pulse,Punjabi,Forpaddytheplasterer,Finians Rainbow, and last but not least Riverside theatre are the ones where he has been most effective. Now when exactly was this dip,and when did his bottle disappear ? LET ME TELL YOU LAD,it didn't ever.

I think your rose colored specs failed you in this , Every punter was of the same opinion as myself at one stage , It was only after he got the job with Chemical , that his profile picked up again ...I'm not knocking the lad , only saying what i and many like me felt at the time...

jimeen i respect your views and think your a shrewd race reader etc.but your wrong on this one.workrider is right,he had a dip.its a known fact to any regular racegoer and indeed id say barry would admit to it himself.its one of those things.it happened and its over..nameing all the winners he rode at chaltenham or elsewhere proves nothing..

Kavvie,he never had a dip,i don't care what anybody says and as for being a known fact to any regular racegoer,at the stage of the supposed dip,id say I raced about 270 days a year, and I doubt if there was many going much more regular than that. Think I mentioned before they were trying to tell me that Tom Ryan was a better rider than him around that time on here, and it simply was that he wasn't getting the real top horses to ride. Big Jessie didn't want him and still doesn't,not unless the owners insist and neither at the time did that Tom Taaafe, they both thought they were bigger than Geraghty. Time has shown that the horrible pair were sadly mistaken, and when his alliance with Henderson took place, well the rest as they say is history. Henderson has been training for donkeys years and never enjoyed success like he has since Geraghty arrived.

His alliance with Henderson came about because he won a few big races on his second strings, Fitzgerald decided to postpone his retirement because he enjoyed so much success with Henderson in 2007, so Barry transformed Nicky Henderson?

Silvergreaser, his alliance with Henderson didn't come about because he won big races on second strings. He was after all offered the job with Nicholls before Ruby Walsh, and although he didn't transform Henderson,he most certainly improved him.

No I don't,i don't think anything of the sort. Its as plain as the nose on your face,a world class rider replaces an average rider and the results improve. The same with any sport or organisation,a world class recruit will improve them. Would Messi improve an already excellent team, would Ronaldo, would Bale, the answer is yes,of course they would. If Henderson is using substances,he hardly waited for Geraghty to arrive before he started,he is after all a trainer for many many years.

Look nobody disputes Barry is a good jockey but he's hardly riding donkeys at Hendersons, but you're in a minority of one when you say Barry never lost his bottle or at least he seem to be riding nervously, because for a coupe seasons he seemed to be very hesitant slowing horses into fences and hurdles almost fearful of a fall?.
And its not only this forum it was allover the street, everyone seemed to be saying it, its a pity I haven't got a video link to that Essex ride, ATR has a link but it doesn't seem to be working, it was an astonishing piece of riding.
Gant is a Meath man so I presume he would be closer to sources and he agrees.

Would you ever leave it out will you. In the history of racing there has never been a jockey who lost his bottle and regained it. Another thing I am disputing and that you say he is a good jockey,im saying he is one of the all time greats, there is a big difference. The game is littered with good jockeys, but not of this mans calibre. To say I am in a minority of one is a load of bull,i am quite happy to be in the opposite camp to yourself and workrider, because if I was in the same one, then I would be worried. Anyway all jockeys and trainers are the same according to you,so im surprised you noticed this imaginary dip in form.

Barry never lost his bottle, far from it. He was frustrated and disillusioned because a superb pilot like BJG wants to be at the top table all the time. Linking up with Henderson has given him the ammo and Nicky is of course over the moon to have him.
His feedback after working or schooling a horse is superb...........something Silvergreaser probably chooses to ignore from high achievers......Race day is only a piece of the jigsaw.

High achievers in racing are hugely helped by the ability of the horse underneath them so its hard to say for certain that x jockey or x trainer is superior to y jockey or y trainer when the horses ability is almost paramount for success at the top table.
Just because one jockey rides more winners than another doesn't particularly mean he's superior, same thing for trainers, in fact trainers are probably the most overrated of all at least jockeyship requires skill.

On a side point we have these two meetings on a Friday night, come Sunday no meeting scheduled, not sure if it is good planning though accept Galway is on for the next week.
