Sharon Dunphy will probably have the book thrown at her over the Like A Diamond affair,young naive defenceless an easy target.
How serious was her crime,she allowed a man about to start a training career use her name to run a horse,that's all there was a chance the horse could win and give her some much needed publicity,she didnt realise that they were trying to land a monster gamble.
You would have thought that Hogan or a learner version of that name would know more about gambling than he showed in this attempted gamble but 'twas this drew attention to Sharon Dunphy and the poor girl obviously folded under questioning by the stewards.
In the Danny Mullins appeal it emerged that the stewards have the right to impose suspensions and fines for anything they see fit,this has led to power going to the head of stewards,this is something the jockeys association( worse than useless) must challenge.
The suspending of jockeys is now so ingrained that when discussing Stewards Inquiries commentators say a few days for the jockey,no one challenges this,this thinking got Richard Hughes banned for a day because the stall handlers put him in the wrong stall even though it was corrected,Johnny Murtagh was banned for being dehydrated how sick was that.
The banning of apprentices for effectively being apprentices is just cruel,the race in Leopardstown that Writers Block won resulted in four day bans for all the other jockeys ludicrous apart from the fact they just made a mistake Katie Walsh rode to instructions this was deemed irrelevant.
We have all these anonymous people depriving people of their livelihood causing financial hardship and it seems to me they are addicted to it.

I don't agree with all of your comments but I do agree with most..i have to say I also have sympathy for the dunphy girl...but she knew what she was doing was against the rules ..and if found out would be punished?(the hypocrisy is a joke) but that's racing.. |

I am not fully up to speed on the detail here. I know this is a common practice and frequently ignored. But shirley the rules have to be applied and a sentence applied that helps deter such activity? Does the poor maligned punter not deserve to know who trains the horse etc?
