Folks I made an ass of myself earlier re SNA but I'll redeem myself here. Whatever you do take time out to watch a replay of the 17:25 at Ballinrobe. This is one of the all times, you won't see it until the end. 2 words Massini's Trap.

The best of all time

The best of all time. I'll mortgage my granny to back it next week in Galway if it is not suspended before hand. This wasn't just a fast finisher, this horse was running away the whole way round
Report workrider July 23, 2013 5:48 PM BST
They'll hardly let it win next time either , maybe after a few more runs when everything dies down ...Then again they may have no option but to let it run on its merits next time imo....

Wouldn't worry too much, very easy to get Camelot/St Nick and even Kingsbarns mixed up. All similar type of profile. I used to always get Weapons Amnesty and another similarly named Gigginstown horse mixed up.

unreal.ud wonder for a shrewd crowd they they put  7lb claimer up.as well as reducing the weight by half a stone he wouldnt have much experience?
Report dj876 July 23, 2013 6:14 PM BST
It was only his fourth ride(not excusing him).
Not a race I'd be following the form on,thought it was an egg and spoon race. How many mistakes did the winner make?
He'd have no chance in any hurdle race that he'd be eligible for at Galway.(not many)
And Jimmy Nash operates at a strike rate of 5%.

Massini's Trap caught many an eye coming home well for third, a length adrift under his inexperienced pilot Thomas Doran (running and riding enquiry report to follow).

Let's see what the stewards do. Plain

Sickening to watch that.

50 DAYS ShockedShocked

Cash should have got the same and more. Grin
Report lustrumm July 23, 2013 6:26 PM BST
Yes DJ that does mitigate it, only 5 rides and not even a horse placed but if anything that makes it worse. The Maiden hurdles next week won't be any stronger than tonight and I'll back it for sure. Even the same ride again would do and it will come bouncing up the hill based on what I saw there
Report neill d July 23, 2013 6:33 PM BST
Feel sorry for the lad, trainer clearly cut the s hit out of him in there as well, (as you'd expect of course).
Report dj876 July 23, 2013 6:34 PM BST
You must be having a laugh if you think a maiden hurdle at Galway(not that they're at a very high standard) wouldn't be any stronger than that??
That was one of the worst maiden hurdles U'l ever see,the winner hit the majority of the hurdles and the first five were separated by 4 lengths.
Have a look at Windsor Pride or Scarlet Prince's previous hurdle form??
Report pa lapsy July 23, 2013 6:34 PM BST
Mount Benbulben was a lot worse, very harsh and while it did look shocking surely the jock's inexperience should have been taken into account.
Report jimeen July 23, 2013 6:35 PM BST
Lustrumm, that was a terrible race,a really really bad one. I will be in galway next week  and I do know who you are,as you do me so if it does happen to win any race in Galway next week ,then I will give you a choice of seeing me streak around the track or give you a free 200 euro bet, whichever suits you.

50 Day Ban-He only had 5 rides in the last 400 days.
Report rebel1 July 23, 2013 6:43 PM BST
the only race that beast would win is the jockeys derby at the greyhound track..and that would be providing one of the senior jocks was leggedup..as regards calling the trainer shrewd...well that is laughable
Report lustrumm July 23, 2013 6:47 PM BST
50 days for the young lad. I guess he had to be the sacrificial lamb here
Respect Jimeen's opinion but I'll stick with my view to the naked eye and that he is a winner in waiting. I backed the winner today so already feel I got a slice of luck
Report lustrumm July 23, 2013 6:49 PM BST
BTW Jimeen we'll go for the lap of the Track if he wins. They will come from far and wide for that. Not that I couldn't do with the deuce but to have you unmasked for the Forum would be worth it. I'ld even race you (I'll be clothed of course)
Report silvergreaser July 23, 2013 6:51 PM BST
just spotted this thread so ignore my thread I just started, sacrificial lamb is correct, keep your mouth shut or else.
Report lustrumm July 23, 2013 7:05 PM BST
Silver I was gonna say even you could contribute here. You'll be cheering for him next in an attempt to get Jimeen unmasked!!
Report BJG July 23, 2013 7:07 PM BST
Horse surely got a ban from running too which would sort out Galway? Usually the case with non jiggers aint it?
Report jimeen July 23, 2013 7:14 PM BST
Id say it will be ok to run as the jockey seems to be carrying the full can and all its contents, and having looked back at the horses form it struck me that he had an excellent first run in Leopardstown, one which would suggest he'd definitely win on the flat, but he seemed to regress afterwards, almost every race,so its entirely possible he will go the same way over hurdles. That race to me this evening was a selling hurdle and id be amazed if winners came out of the race.
Report BJG July 23, 2013 7:19 PM BST
Race 1 Ballinrobe The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Massini's Trap, ridden by T.E. Doran and trained by Mr J.A. Nash.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his instructions were to jump off fifth or sixth on the rail, creeping into the race before ultimately doing his best.

He added that the horse jumped adequately towards the rear before staying on very well in the straight. He concluded by accepting that he left the horse with too much to do and had he ridden his mount more prominently he felt he would have won.

Evidence was also heard from the trainer concerned who confirmed the instructions but expressed his disappointment with the ride.

The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Massini's Trap was post race normal.

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that T.E. Doran was in breach of Rule 212(a)(i) in that he failed to take reasonable and permissable measures throughout the race to obtain his best possible place and suspended him for fifty race days. The trainer's explanations were noted.

U are right Newman. They fell in a hole up ahead but none the less the ground made up was staggering on fast ground, even for a poorish race. Would have opened up a 20/1 shot wherever they went next time

WR, this is my busy season and i have to take care of my sick dad.  All in all though betfair has never been as profitable for me.  I will put up something for Galway with a chance if the ground stays good.  Take care allHappy

Mind yourself Newmanix , I hope your dad gets better...
Report punchestown July 24, 2013 11:39 AM BST
Regards to Newmanix and his dad,the BM Cash one last week was equally as strangled as last nights beast and was ridden in a more prominent position which makes the "missing" of it by the sherry brigade even more unforgivable as it was right behind the leaders imo.
