She is based in Laois and mainly trains point to pointers

She is based in Wexford and if she genuinely trains it,then its a million.

The stewards have ordered its withdrawal
|
|
By:
Johnny Ward "The big gamble, Like A Diamond, withdrawn because of it the stewards deeming it not being trained out of the premises stated. More to follow" Also heard an employee of Kevin Prendergast was called in by the stewards.

How do they go about proving that, unless they are tracking horseboxes these days. Did they surreptitiously sneak an official out to the yard that doesn't exist?

strange one..i know lots of horses that arnt trained by whos name is behind them.commonplace.

Don't know the combo from adam, but they probably don't 'know' anyone, these are usually the people that are targeted aren't they.

Miss S Dunphy trains just ouutside Thurles in a yard formerly occupied by D Commins.
She previously trained in Ballacolla Co Laois and then in Curraclos Co Wexford where she was assisted by Des Donovan who now trains from Barney Curleys yard, It is most probable that she is been used as a nom de plume and that one of the breeze up guys has this animal. |

From Irishracing.com
The stewards received a report from Mr Chris Gordon, Turf Club Senior Security Officer, in relation to the training of Like A Diamond by Ms Sharon Sharon Dunphy, a declared runner in this race. Mr Gordon reported that the animal was not trained at the registered licensed premises of Ms Sharon Dunphy at Drish, Thurles, Co. Tipperary but at another premises in the neighbourhood. Evidence was heard from Ms Dunphy which included her acceptance of the report furnished by Mr Gordon. Evidence was also heard from Mr Fabian Burke, Groom in charge, who had entered the Stable yard on a temporary pass to work for Ms Dunphy at this meeting. Having considered the report and the subsequent evidence and in particular the admission by Ms Dunphy that her runner "Like A Diamond" was not trained from her licensed training establishment as required by rule 147 (vi), the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of "Like A Diamond" from the race and referred the matter to the Turf Club. |

Never admit anything, Sharon.

That's very interesting Calling Card,i am after being told and I cannot say this is factual, but I would respect the source all the same, and that is it was being trained by as you said a breeze up man,who has a very similar surname to another Irish trainer based in Northern England.
What has me puzzled and that is if the story is accurate,is why the name change as this guy cant train either. If it had run in his name then it wouldn't have been any shorter. |

as per norm, a thread like this is marvellous for outing the bluffers like snap.
Sharon is from ballacolla, she has never trained from her homeplace as she never had gallops. she started out working for Philip Fenton and since branching out on her own, she has rented in a few spots her current location a small livery yard near thurles. it baffles the clowns who jumped the gun on this gamble. had they kept their powder dry they could have had all the 25/1 and more returned on shows to the offices. in the end, the punters got lucky as it is doubtful welds would have been beaten tonight, the forced withdrawal saving them their stakes.. Sharon on the other hand could be in trouble. this is the second case in the space of a fortnight that the security department stepped in and prevented horses from running( the other at the cork jumps meeting a fortnight ago). I doubt if this intervention is down to investigation, more than likely down to people with grudges snitching. |

It's happening all over the place. A registered trainer near me pops in every evening to feed the dogs in the yard......that's about it. All seed and breed running horses out of the same yard under the trainers name.

Jimeen is it the guy the man who she signed into the stable yard?. Fabien Burke is a son of Paddy Burke who held a Curragh training licence for many years and then assisted Christy Roche until his death, RM (ROBBIE) BURKE is Fabiens brother. I also was imformed that thr horse has done a lot of work on the Curragh.F Burke is due to apply for a trainers licence in the next few weeks and train from a private yard in Kilmeague CO KILDARE from where WP Murphy attempted an ill fated gamble earlier this year.
The question where does the link between the horses rotund owner and Miss S Dunphy emanate from. |

Gant is it possible that you live near Gormanstown ?? and a former Irish Grand National winning trainer??
|

Callingcard.......No. I'm a fair bit away from there.

just to complete the puzzle Like A Diamond was due to wear the same colours as Eoins Doyles bumper runner at Kilbeggan

Calling Card, the person I am told it was is a point to point and breeze up man,who would have a bit of history with the booked rider back along as well . The thing is that if the horse carried his name then it would have been a massive price anyway, so that makes me wonder. The piece on the Internet says that the girl trains in Thurles as you said and the horse is in a stable in the neighbourhood , that would make it look as if it's a Tipperary trainer, which would fit the bill for my man also. Obviously it will be revealed now as the girl is after folding like a deck of cards and if she has admitted to not training it then she will definitely give up who was.

By:
a tipp trainer narrows it down somwehat!?!
|
|
By:
It may well not be a tipp trainer kavvie as there are parts of Kilkenny alot closer to thurles than plenty parts of Tipperary . For example you would be in Urlingford quicker than you would be in fethard from Thurles, so it depends on how wide they rate the "neighbourhood".
|
|
By:
as you say it was badly executed anyway.a very small amount of money wud drag a horses price down of a monday morning.if they waited for a show it would have been 66/50s..and you would get significantly more on. i suppose though keeping a secret between two people is easy,if one of them is dead!!
|
|
By:
It could be a Cashel trainer with the jockey booking and would be a lot shorter in the betting if he was the trainer.(Only guessing)
|
|
By:
The latest I have heard on this saga and I would say this is more accurate,is that the horse was in the care of two as yet unlicensed individuals, and were just using the girls name until their own house was in order. One of them has been mentioned on this thread and the other alluded to by kd109's post.

Calling Card, the people being mentioned by my source are your man Burke and the Kevin Prendergast employee, who you may know but I cant say I do. Apparently hes a sallow skin fellow ,balding a bit and been there for 20 years or more. I have no idea about the link between owner and Dunphy, but its possible that the link was just between Dunphy and the real handler/handlers

Whoever was behind the gamble didn't do their homework. That was a decent enough maiden for the venue and three of the market leaders had handicap marks in the high 70s. To expect an unraced 3 year old gelding by a shyte sire to win first time out on a tight gaff track was little over ambitious. In any event the winner of the race, a very experienced horse, Train of Thought, ran, in my opinion, to a mark in the mid eighties. Its a pity they blew it because I like seeing these type of gambles succeed. There was obviously a whistle blower involved because the Turf Club Security Department wouldn't be able to track an elephant in snow who was bleeding from an artery.
