today we have round 1 of the champions league. focus of my attention is the tie between sheriff Tiraspol of Moldova and the montenegrons sutjeska.
in international footie terms, Montenegro is well ahead of Moldova as can be seen by their world cup qualifying groups.
Their respective domestic leagues are very poor in standard lacking a competitive edge, both lies on a par.
sheriff have champions league experience with little in the way of success. during the past months, the club have brought in 2 new joint managers and a few foreign players, including a Brazilian. since the changes they have played no competitive games as the local league is closed.
susjeska were first time domestic league winners and this is their first outing in the champions league. almost entirely a local first eleven, they have the same squad as they had last season and have a very settled look about them.
susjeska are a very well organised team from a defensive point of view, conceding on average less than 1 goal per game all last season.
we have a newly constructed home team in transition against a limited but organised dogged opponent.
this will not be an exciting encounter, I think only 0-0, 1-0, 0-1, or 1-1 is in play.
2 bets.....5/10 under 2.5 goals 10/11.

i thought wen the home team scored it just before ht we were in trouble..btw wh were 1/3 the away team plus 3 up to half hour before ko..then it dissapeared.wonder why!?
the return leg of the sutjeska/sheriff game is on this afternoon with a 4.30pm kick off.
again I think the market has totally over-estimated the moldovans, their price has contracted to 1.91 from 2.1.
the market move does not bother me as having watched the first game, I am certain that the home team sutjeska have the better defenders and sheriff could be limited on their travels.
should sutjeska get the first goal, they are capable of shutting up shop and holding on. the couple of foreigners on the sheriff team looked sulky merchants who may not be up for an away trip to a hostile montenegran outpost.
main bet, a 7/10, lay sheriff at 1.92........if you are risk averse, this will be a tight game, if the first ten minutes follow that pattern, I think sheriff price could quickly jump to 2.2 or 2.3 and after ten minutes you could earn 10% or more on your stake.
second bet: 2/10 at the price, sutjeska half time full time, available here at 9.4.
the other game of note is the Bosnian/Czech match up between zeljeznicar and Plzen. the first game was a goalfest. there was also a nasty under current with plenty of bad blood between certain players. if someone can locate a price on a sending off in this game in the 2/1 or above region, that bet may be worth entertaining.

The red card is one i was waiting for myself - no markets anywhere tho bar on here with no liquidity
6/7 yellow iirc in the first game - almost all of which came in the last half an hour when things started to turn a little nasty, 3 in the last 7/8 mins alone and can definitely see that tone carrying thru to this game
