We all know doping has been endemic in this great event since its beginning. In the 1920's the organisers reminded the cyclists that dope was not provided ,a cocaine form used for horse ointment was then used.
So on Sunday 1400 cyclists are invited to a party to take part in the centenary celebrations apart from one man-Lance Armstong.(No more guilty than the vast majority of them but he didn't have the natural ability of some of the other greats such as Coppi, Anquetil ,Hinault and Merchx who all won the GC on their first Tour(ALL Assisted of course),Armstrong finished 57th in his first tour).
Our own "Greats" Kelly and Roche are as guilty as any of them,Kelly twice failed doping tests blaming cough medicine for one and the other test involved urine swapping with his mechanic who also failed). Roche's association with Doctor Conconi and the Carrera team's culture of doping was revealed in an Italian court in 2000. Perhaps one of the true greats at the party on Sunday will be Paul Kimmage.
Watching the lanky frame of Chris Froome accelerate away from the natural Colombian born Climbers over Mount Ventoux was like an action replay of the power of Lance Armstrong demolishing previous fields.
You are probably right, Dj, but I will pay Devils Advocate on this one.
He only put less than 30 secs on Quintana and there were about 10 other riders within 2 minutes. What conclusions does one draw from this?

Not a Massive amount of time Ozy and the time he climbed the Ventoux would appear to add further credence to the performance.I think he done it in 49 minutes, about 3 minutes slower than Pantani/Armstrong but the time has to be taken in the context that it was at the end of a 220km stage including numerous other climbs.
It's his style of riding that is so reminiscent to that of Armstrong powering clear hauling his 6 ft 1 inch frame over these mountains. His position on the bike suggests he is under pressure earlier in the climbs but his endurance levels and ability to use a higher gear over these mountains is phenomenal.A natural climber is not built like him,I am not sure it's possible to have the physique or natural ability to perform to such an astounding level in a flat stage time trial and also excel in the mountain stages.

Yeah, I get that dj. Unlikely physique for a climber and uncannily dual purpose wrt the time trials.
I suppose it comes down to your degree of cynicism and in this sport there is not much room for anything else.

David Walsh is "embedded" with Sky before and through The Tour and will reveal all next Sunday in The Times, from what I gather he thinks he's clean but my eyes tell me otherwise.

" If you shut up the truth and bury it under the ground , it will but grow and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it bursts through it will blow up everything in its way " .
Not divulging who wrote this yet, some may have seen it before , it is at the start of a book I have just begun to read -- "The Secret Race " --Daniel Coyle / Taylor Hamilton . It is a very pertinent quote though .
Hamilton was Armstrongs wing man for a lot of the Tour victories in US Postal . William Hill sports book of the year 2012 . Think this book started some balls rolling and must have helped David Walsh and co justify their long held views .

You're a marked man Wildman. It's fairly obvious that you have a stalker who is reporting your posts.I don't think the moderators even look until they're reported.Obviously your Stalker is a serial reporter and knows what to say to get your posts removed because it's not their content.
Fairly pathetic that someone is getting a thrill from this.

Why not simply contact Betfair and ask if it is one individual who is reporting your posts on a daily basis?
If they can see that it is, they will realise that the reporting is either vindictive or personal and either ignore it or warn the reporting forumite.

That's because I have denied it several times in the past, Old Pa.
If it was me why on earth would I suggest the following;

I know and fair play. Mightn't be right at all here but didn't a known Cork lady bookmaker take forum users to court over what was said on here?. Possibly that posts are taken down by a moderator if an individual is named?
