Was very impressed by him at Leopardstown, that was a good Coventry and he is as good a winner as you could get. This is a real Classic trial these times and I reckon it will be a long time before this lad is beaten. Classic winning material.

He got a couple of mentions yesterday in the RP Royal Ascot pull out in the section called behind the lines I noted. It was not a betting race for me I have to admit.

The price put off a lot of people, but as I alluded to on the Dawn Approach thread, I think Coolmore are changing their approach to first and second string et cetera and just bringing all the horses that 'deserve' to be there, ie. have a profile that could see them win the race. The pace making bussiness was seeing them ruin too many good horses and was terrible PR. They are also using a lot of new stallions these times so they need time to see what is what. It is a transitional phase, but they just keep winning.

Impressive , particularly if there was anything decent behind . On a short list of ones to follow , ran home straight as a gun barrel , like those sort . Prices irrelevant ref Coolmore operation , except if it has proved its a good un .
Declaration of War was drifting in and out like a barge today , from 9.6 out to 12.5 , sluggishly . Then 5 minutes before race odds dropped quickly to 9.2 , last I saw I think . For 23 hours 55 minutes in a 24 hour period , there was little or no "encouragement" to back Declaration , but it all changed in last 5 minutes before the off . Follow the money . I only like backing the Coolmore horses these days when the form is sound and there are not a whole lot of untested stablemates running too . Pacemakers are OK , but generally they are easily identified . Stubbs was fav today was it not , but the fact that it was beaten first time out put me off it , the real good ones win all their races until encountering better ? I had no bet . Good luck to anyone who lit on it , no danger in the run . |

War Command certainly visibly impressive the further he went the better he looked, no real surprise there as he already won over 7f first time.
I find I'm less likely to look any further than Joseph rides these days, as I'm sure Daddy would be less likely to put Joseph on the wrong one then say the non blood ties of Fallon and Murtagh. Yes Moore won the Derby and Seamie won yesterday but its going to happen from time to time when you have such a bundle of riches at your disposal and multiple entries, if anything Stubbs traveled like the best horse in the race yesterday for a long way and when he hit the front it looked like he would win for a few strides then it all changed real quickly as it did in the Windsor Castle, I certainly think there is a big race or 2 in Stubbs?. |

Agree there is a big one with Stubbs SG,liked the way he travelled as well but an awesome performance by War Command who obviously goes top of the pile at this stage.Coach House who runs tomorrow has very similar form to Stubbs and looks the only likely one of AoB,s to challenge WC for that spot at the moment.
As good and all as yesterdays performance was the 5/1 on offer for WC in the 2000g,s is a joke given AoB,s record of improvement in his youngsters. |
