Have a fancy for Meade's johannisburger(sic) in the Connaught National. Horse has had major wind problems, but it doesn't seem to catch him when he runs on ground good or better. This will be the fastest ground he has ever encounteded and I think he'll relish it. the trip should be fine on account of the ground. He won his beginners well the last time and he travels great which u need to do around Roscommon.

Steps to Freedom must have schooled very very well to be that price against Rathlin. Could have found an easier oppo for him but maybe it underlines just how important they think the ground is to this horse. Might not get good to firm again this summer. A race to watch for me I think. When something is too good to be true and all that. But if Rathlin is worth his 149, that is a huge ask on chasing debut.

I was thinking of laying Rathlin at 2.6,any ,more opinions on this race??
Stepping back to 2m on fast ground from his latest 2m 6f and 2m5f wins. The race he won at Punchestown looked a match beforehand and Jetson didn't show up at all,so not sure how strong a race it was.

I thought Tribes and Banner was very impressive at Punchestown beating Burn and Turn by 11 lengths giving her 10lbs.Front runner who could be hard to reel in.

Arnaud was also impressive at Killarney beating Rebel Fitz but on very different ground than tonight.
10ST 8LBS is Davy's minimum riding weight I think, perhaps he wouldn't be able to do it returning from injury(Tho more than likely Rathlin is no.1 choice).Has a chance getting 12 lbs off Rathlin over the minimum trip imo.

Steps to Freedom faces a tough task on his debut over fences(even tho he gets his fast ground) but if he jumps proficiently he may get the run of the race.U'd imagine Tribes and Banner will be setting a strong pace with Rathlin not too far off him and this fellow from well off the pace. Puppy Power riding and Geraghty sitting on the sidelines is hardly sharp tho.
Unusual to see a son of statue of Liberty chasing.

Perhaps it's folly tho to be opposing an in form Mouse Morris chaser??Baily Green ran up quite a sequence last summer.

Rathlin a non runner.

Agree with dj876 about Tribes And Banners, this lad is a nine year old but he has been transformed recently loves this ground and his last win at Punchestown was very impressive.

Not heading real shame, one tip and a sure fire winner for those going to get a cool brewski and one of those hot dogs.

Calling Roscommon locals any sign of rain in the area yet? Forecast to change this evening ,for anyone backing horses that like to rattle off ground something to be aware of.

What makes it worse is Barry Geraghty was watching the race from the stands.

Thank God I'm not at home to read the Examiner column on Friday!! I think Steps will win plenty of races over fences but they were talking Arkle this morning in the paper( thatwas never gonna happen) but in that context, tonight was disappointing, he still should have won though I think.

Daring Decoy is by Great Palm which is a negative to me,he is owned by the Tu Va racing club which is constantly looking for victims via the Racing Post.

These clubs have their own sites and are probably on twitter have any of our younger contributors read any of their thoughts.

Tony57 is it significant that you fancy Daring Decoy as your only bet but have no interest in Tu Vas other bumper runner Josie Bassett?

After the first post thought this thread could include peoples preference in either ketchup or mustard or heavens forbid both if one was inclined to eat the said objects.
Not sure about Josie Bassett, suppose she is getting her allowance but only 4. Thought the claimer that rode Waylander gave him a real cracking ride lto,in that he nicked a few lengths at the start and dictated a steady pace where he stayed on without quickening, one i would be against as i think the run showed him in a better light than what he is, at a push probably would do the Mullins horse in it.

Chris Hayes very clever in the 6.20,rode the whole way round on the tyre tracks on the outside and avoiding the chewed up inner.

I agree with u jimeen regarding steps to freedom terrible ride and I backed winner but put steps in horsetracker as a very bad ride and imho should have won if jock just got after him a bit earlier and would have won snug
