Think there are a couple of very good bets this week, both in outright markets, and top country markets. Personally dont really fancy any of the market leaders, Phil, strives to, and generally does, play well the week before a major, but his course form here would not inspire, though i would still prefer him to Sned or Dusty at the prices.
Decided to back a couple more players than normal, as my shortest selection is 28-1.
My two biggest winners, and whom i think are the best outright bets are Camillo Villegas(66s Powers, 6 places....80s S James, 5 places), and Robert Allenby(125-1 BVictor, 6 places.....150-1 S James 5 places....or 190 on here.
Villegas has decent course form, and has been returning to something approaching his best for a while now. Consistency is starting to come back, and in a field that he wont be frightened of, this could be the week he delivers.
Allenbys course form is top notch, for someone that would hae been starting fancy prices each yr. Only out of the top 13 once in his last 6 attempts, when he withdrew due to injury, he can be fancied to yet again show up on the Sunday leaderboard. He is in poor form, but this has been the case for a few years now, but it hasnt stopped him performing very well here.
Also backed, Boo e.w 33s and Stallings 35s, both Bvictor for the extra place. Weekleys ball striking in his win at Colonial was unreal, his putting as poor as ever, but still couldnt prevent the overdue win. The confidence gained could see a slight improvement in the putting, and he seems sure to be thereabouts. Not a big fan of Stallings in general, but he comes here in vintage form, and if he keeps contending as he is, a win in a low grade field like this is imminent.
David Toms 80s, and John Merrick 66s, Ryan Palmer 28s(6 places). Smaller stakes on these lads, but feel there more value in having these three arrows e.w than going with Phil.
What i think are the two best bets of the week, are, Allenby for top Australasian with S James, 11-2. For reasons listed above, he seems sure to be thereabouts, which will probably suffice in this weak and limited field. A bonus here is that SJ dont have Matt Jones listed in this market, and they clearly state only players listed count. Allenby is shorter with other firms for top Australian, and with them he has to contend with Jones, whom i would perceive as his main danger.
Brian Davis 4s top GB & I, Ladbrokes. With the favourites for this particular market being the hugely out of form Pod and Poulter, there seems to a bit of value siding with Davis, who finished very well on Sunday, and has a course that will suit this week. Very little strenght in depth in this field, and i would be surprised if Davis doesnt oblige.

Great write up,like what you said about Phil im going to take a chance with him at 14/1 e/w 6 places with powers, hopefully he comes out all guns blazing on Thursday, and in Europe im going for a large e/w bet on Wiesberger at 7/1 also with powers, think he is a class above what he will be up against this week, and after a strong finish last week cant see him outside the top 5,and playing in his own backyard think hes a really strong choice, going to do a e/w double aswell on both, best of luck with the bets this week,

Tempted by Stallings also, but went for Gary Woodland & Pod at 85's & 110's respectively W&Pl, along with main hope, Ryan Palmer. GL.

Congested at the top, if you make cut here you might only be 6 off the lead the way it's shaping up. Proper tough honest course, make them work for their $$'s, I say. Nice prices still floating around as a result topped, up on Pod & Woodland, stallings still looking hot, but leaving as missed the nice prices. Be lucky, we will need it,should be great tv though.

Pretty disgusted with Davis going 4 over for last 4 holes. Would have much preferred English to have done that!! Hopefully he comes back to the field today. Being my optimistic self, I still confident on all frontsGrin

Yeah, i was getting confident when leader made mess of twelth, conincided with a Stallings double thoughSad. Ryan Palmer has played his way back into it. Good finish from the two leaders, unfortunately Stallings couldnt convert his short birdie putt. All to play for tomorrow, course sure to be set up a shade tougher. Hopefully Allenby can get the day off to a good start and overhaul Nick O'Hern for top Australian.

Yeah, that was a disgrace. Good effort on par putt on 18, and good putt for bogey, to be fair to him. Won few quid on the week, but case of what might have been!! Villegas and Allenby were not too far out of the places, tied 10th at big prices, Davis 2nd in top GB & I, Allenby split pot in top Oz, Stallings 2nd, Palmer 4th.....Ah well, spilt milk and all that, onwards to next wk, its never boring!! Good luck DP. Really cant see beyond Tiger, Kuch and G Mac next wk. Hopefully no rain to soften and ease conditions.

Unlucky lads, that's been the story of my golf bets too this year. Have backed Dustin and Padraig so far and will have a dab at someone else nearer the time.
