Good morning Richters,a plucky choice, i,m not up to date with gaa being truthful, would that be based upon you think Leitrim are weak?
|
|
By:
was talking to a few ex leitrim county players last weekend in the west pa and they were worried about this fixture......listen its worth a small punt at the prices.....
|
|
By:
Leitrim are not worried about this game at all, richters don't be polluting the forum with daft picks the 8/1 bet is simply wasting money. There is always a chance a team may ease up but the Leitrim will win.

I wonder which Rich lost more on the Voice last Sunday or New York,New York.......Off out for a few scoops-Hope they make a comeback in the second half for ya Dickie

|
|
By:
To be fair to me it's not like i never said anything before the game, his reasoning was totally wrong, he met a guy who told him Leitrim were worried
![]() I think this is the worst bet ever on the forum just because of his reasons for placing it and that is why i laughed, also the fact it was the forum biggest clown had me chuckling. |

King would never put up a thread like this, they're are people who make money at betting richters, people who break even richters, people who lose and then you a complete Mug richters
![]() Without doubt the worst betting thread ever, you met a guy in a toilet in a pub that said he was a former intercounty footballer and he told you to be worried, sounds ominous what happened next ! |

I did not see this thread until it was brought up tonight.
Kevin Egan wrote a good piece on this yesterday and made a valid point about other areas such as Boston getting a shot at this tie in future years. It will be interesting to see footage of the game and see what the likes of Rory Woods would like. He took months and months of training when with Monaghan to get near championship fitness and I cannot see how he could have been near that level in his current surroundings. Strengths New York Weakness New York are no longer the threat they once were. Emigration continues to be a big issue in Irish society, but the Big Apple is not as popular a location as it once was. There are plenty of players in the New York team with former intercounty experience, however the standard of play in New York has struggled to keep pace with the improvements in general standards back home. Since Leitrim escaped with a narrow extra time victory in 2003, New York have only once lost by a single figure margin in this tie – and that was against Galway in 2010, where complacency may have been a factor. Leitrim certainly won’t take a victory here for granted, regardless of Sligo’s big win last year. Leitrim Championship Displays Leitrim may be a division four team but they rarely put in a bad performance in the championship. They lost heavily to Mayo in last year’s championship – and Mayo proved that there was no shame in that – but they still rebounded well to put in some excellent displays in the qualifiers against Wicklow and Laois. Their league campaign this year wasn’t as good as they had hoped, but they lost by a point to Offaly and two points to Limerick, who both ended up contesting the final. With a full strength team, they should be able to rack up the scores that are needed. Lack Of Preparation For New York It’s simply impossible to prepare properly in New York. The logistics behind getting their squad together are daunting, while back in Ireland, even the worst county teams now train properly for five or six months of the year. Several of New York’s better club players don’t make themselves available due to the huge time commitment of getting from the various boroughs up to the Bronx, while their preparation consists of playing matches among themselves and against local club teams. Weaknesses Lack Of Leitrim Goals The big danger here is that Leitrim aren’t a good goalscoring team, so they aren’t necessarily built to cover large spreads. They failed to score a goal in three of their seven league games and while that’s not a terrible record – on average most counties will fail to score at least one in three times against evenly matched opponents – the deployment of Emlyn Mulligan at centre forward does rob them of a potent inside threat. Opportunities New York Could Be Way Off The Pace There is potential here for a handy win –New York’s domestic challenge match results have been very poor and while we’re inclined to treat such reports with scepticism, it’s quite possible that this particular vintage is not the best prepared New York team in recent years, or anything close. Enthusiasm for competing in this fixture has waned Stateside and many feel that other areas like Boston, Philadelphia and San Francisco should be given the chance to compete for this slot. There is a possibility that New York are way off the pace and lose by twenty points or more as they did last year. Ladbrokes are the only firm going -9 points with the other firms all going -10 on the visitors. New York Selections Puzzling The New York team selection has a few odd choices, such as the placement of CJ Molloy at midfield. The manager’s son is not noted for playing in such a central role and generally lines out further up the field. In general, the Exiles look quite weak at midfield and half back and they could be overwhelmed here. Additionally, if half forwards Jason Kelly and Conor Lynam are forced to cover back to plug gaps, that will really hurt their attack. Of course the art of naming dummy teams could be at play here, but there aren’t any obvious other choices to fill the centre field berth in the XV. Threats Getting 70 Minutes of Full Championship Football From Leitrim As with any large handicap, the danger here is that there is nothing in it for Leitrim to push on and win big. Just because they’re capable of winning by a double figure score doesn’t mean that they will do – either they could be happy to keep New York at arm’s length in the closing stages, or else they could concede late scores to scupper our bet. Hopefully competition for places in a squad with plenty of players returning from injury should keep us safe on this score.# Momentum From Positive New York Start Momentum is the big danger here. As much for traditional reasons as any other, a large crowd tends to attend this fixture and if New York get away to a good start, that crowd will get behind their team. Leitrim need to get out to a lead early and kill the crowd factor. |

distant rory woods cried off at the 11th hour with an injury.....didnt affect the result but a big miss all the same

I didn't know that.
He is a gifted footballer and great with both feet but had serious weight problems every year he played for us and in fairness to him he trained very very hard to get weight off each year. It will not be easy or him in the environment that he is in now but in club football over there he will have a class edge over most. |

By:
Yes richters if only they had another player, he would have won it for them and your bet would have been up, safe trip back to la la land

Exactly, knives out again for someone that as we all do got it wrong. Nasty thoughts on this thread by some and and a few good guys.

Some win.....some lose........ that's the nature of the beast.
But it's the same few who always knock posters. |
|
By:
Richters deserves it tho...Look at the use of his inciteful language such as "scumfingers" and is the first to criticise on other threads even when racing matters are being discussed.
It's no wonder PP made €138 Million last year when the likes of Richters are taking 10/11 on handicaps with the draw as well (Minimum 125% overound),Betting on the voice (with about 150% o/r,-not that the o/r is important there). |

Good morning dj,thats a fair point. Read a few threads last night and the knockers were out in force on a few of them, fook all to contribute themselves and having a laugh at someone who lost money, hard to really bother anymore, who wants to be a target.

Good morning Pa,I should refrain from biting myself.
There is valid and informative discussions on here too(Gant put up a good winner of the bumper yest),the main reason I will put up a horse is to hear people's counter views and possible flaws that I have not thought of. The best threads are the Irish meetings where races are discussed rather than just putting up names(Nap,Boom-This will win win etc). I also enjoyed Wildman's Conspiracy threads even tho I disagreed with more of them than I agreed with, but he has a viewpoint and backs it up(sometimes very stubbornly). |

Ye your right pa lapsy some of theses guy have nothing to add to the forum, somebody should never be knocked for putting up their views on a sporting event on the forum.

Didn't back it myself - but I wouldn't be backing Leitrim to beat anybody by ten points (or for that matter I wouldn't be comfortable backing anyone to beat them by ten)- seemed reasonable punt to me.
Before the match I would have thought Leitrim by 6 or 7 point; I was also surprised to see it at ten ( I very rarely do handicap betting anyway). |
