I know BJG runs his betting competition through the summer which always generates great interest on the forum but I thought I'd run a tipping one as well.

Rules

1. Every entrant picks 2 teams from each province.

If your selection wins the provincial championship you are awarded 10 points whilst runners up receive 5 points.

2. In addition every entrant nominates the 4 counties who'll make the All-Ireland semi-finals.

There will be 5 points awarded to the 4 counties who reach this stage.

3. Finally each entrant nominates their 2013 All Ireland champion and runner up.

20 points will be awarded to the winner and 10 to the runner up.

4. The winner will be the person with the most points.

I'll contact betfair to see if they'll be willing to put up some prizes but wanted to gauge interest first.

Betfair have very kindly agreed to put up prize money as follows :

1st €100
2nd €50
3rd €25

Although we have New York vs Leitrim on 5 May 2013 the real action kicks off on 19 May 2013 so all selections will need to be in on that day.

I'll decide on a cut-off time closer to the date.

Most of us , even the once a yearers , will have a crack at it Monte .  When is the first match , that will have to be the cut off point obviously even if it involves teams from outside Ireland ?

So we pick 8 teams ( 2 from each province)...then we select 4 teams out of that 8.....and finally 2 out of this for winner & Runner up??...am i correct?....

Hi timberman

Everyone picks the 2 teams they think will contest the respective provincial finals.

You can pick whatever 4 teams you think will reach the semi's bearing in mind the back door route and subsequently the final.

Hope this clarifies matters.

Kelly i think we'll have the cut off on the 5th may so as that's when it begins.

Had a look at this briefly this morning...............London for Connacht final?!!  Possibility.

New York (beat Leitrim)    v    London (beat Sligo)    semi-final?!!

Nothing against Leitrim or Sligo but from what I noticed in the league, London were competitive and getting stronger; NY have been scaring a few in recent championships - and both Sligo and Leitrim could lose to anyone - I do accept that outside of the top 8-10 teams they could also beat anyone else on their day. Still, food for thought

Wallflower New york have no chance..small numbers emigrating to new york these days and if your illegal low profile the norm ...London on the other hand with loads of new players on club scene  will give Sligo buckets of it in Ruislip last weekend in May!

I'll kick it off with the first entry -

Connaught - Mayo and Sligo
Lenster - Laois and Dublin
Munster - Cork and Kerry
Ulster - Donegal and Monaghan

Semi Finalists - Kildare, Down, Dublin and Mayo

Finalists - Mayo and Down.

Here's hoping it's a year for the purists!

interesting timberman, could have made a wrong assumption (re:immigration to New York).

Agree about London, certainly Sligo will have their work cut-out for them in Ruislip.....if London do win then that momentum could take them past Leitrim. I'll watch with interest.......obviously in Connacht most focus for neutrals until the final will be on the Galway/Mayo/Roscommon half of the draw. This neutral will also keep an eye on NY/Leitrim/London/Sligo.......think there should be a few close matches in there.

(If it's Leitrim v Sligo semi-final, I wonder will I get the 7/1 on Leitrim again that was available a couple of years agoGrin...local derby, Leitrim generally beat Sligo anyway, written-off.....my biggest ever GAA win.......couldn't believe the price, I didn't even care if I lost....I was put onto it by a Sligo man as wellShockedHappy. Big, big Sligo GAA man, he still denies that he backed Leitrim, but I know he didLaugh, and I'll get it out of him one day)

Monte,

To clarify - for your 2 provincial selections do you have to specify winner and runner-up, or just name 2 teams? Same question re: All-Ireland finalists.

(Also better come-up with tie-breaker rules, strong possibility of a tie methinks)
