Since those great sportsmen the Dorans decided to switch this horse from Willie Mullins to Michael Hourigan, the horse has really blossomed . Michael is a really under rated trainer and  comes across as a really top guy. It surprises me why others dont recognise his talents, because given the opportunities Michael can do the business.

Has any horse transferred from Willie Mullins done anything other than regress, that includes all the ones transferred to Gordon Elliott.

To be honest with you,i couldnt have fancied it all myself but after bumping into the trainer i could sense that he was fairly confident and absolutely adamant that stamina wouldnt beat him. I finished up breaking even in the race when my original plan would have been that it would have been a loser and possibly a biggish one,so it was a moral victory i suppose. In my experience horses rarely come back to their best after a lay off and that would have stopped me from fancying it. I have a suspicion that in winning he may have not had to recapture his old form, but aside from all that,it was a fair training effort. Willie Mullins had 5 winners this week but to me his biggest achievement was the performance of fiveforthree, that was an astounding effort by the trainer.

I don't think anybody doubts Byrnes training ability and it would be churlish of me to mention anything else as the World Hurdle victory is probably his finest hour.

Yes it was a marvellous win,but to me the year Weapons Amnesty took apart a very good field in the RSA was his best achievement, because in all honesty on what it had done all year,it was difficult to see a performance like that coming. I would have thought Solwhits Martell hurdle win was also a better performance than last Thursday,he was a brilliant horse then,he can hardly still be as good now as he was then.

Solwhit is now the champion stayer and did it coming back from injury, good and all as the RSA and Martell hurdle are think winning one of the big four in Cheltenham has to be the pinnacle.
