The current controversy over the mobility allowance can be laid at her door.
She tried to get this allowance extended to people over 65 which would defeat the purpose of the grant and make near all qualify,furthermore when she didn't get her way she got stroppy and started to make demands,she has also been looking for more power someone needs to tell her she is a government employee and unelected.
In last years annual report she was looking for praise for getting a couple 81 thousand in back money for their parents.What actually happened was the HSE stopped the pensions of residents of public nursing homes to defray some of the costs,this reasonable action was deemed against the constitution by the judiciary so all the beauties who abandoned their parents got a windfall,the people that looked after their parents got nothing,this couple applied for their undeserved compo too late but they had a knight in shining armour who managed to stripe the state of a few more quid.
Amid all the emotionalism of this mobility grant some facts have emerged,this grant is for taxis and cars for disabled people,the brave girl who received the most coverage fought her corner well and why not but she acknowledged that she had three personal assistants paid for by the state,her rent again paid for by the state plus a medical card and help with other bills all paid for by the state.
There are some things that we would put on our wish list,full time care for anyone sick an abolition of poverty etcetera but this state is broke and it can't look after everyone in the way we would like that is the sad reality.

Freedom of Information - request legislation extended - to include public bodies like the Gardaí, Central Bank and NAMA ?
