We might find out today how good this defy logic is workrider, Justin O'Hanlon was almost frothing from the mouth after his last victory, if you were to believe Justin's gushing praise we had just witnessed the next Istabraq.
The jury is of course still in session!. |

I like the horse SG,very much got his own way so far,ie being allowed an uncontested lead, not sure how he would handle being taken on that would be a worry for me.No bet but if i did on him it be i/r after a hurdle.

I'm always a little concerned when a horse wears a hood , It might be that its comfortable that way , It always raises a question in my mind though , It won well at fairyhouse the question been , What if anything did it beat ....Sadly Paul has been having a mare these past few years , and needs something special to lift the stable ..Maybe this is the one to do it for him ..I hope so as He's one nice fella ...Having said that my money will be on the DON today...

He is trained by Paul Nolan,he has just won his maiden hurdle,he looks around him and is quirky and he is now running in as hot a hurdle as you could find yet I still think he will win. Annie Power Don Cossack and Moscow Mannon are formidable opponents but I can see this lad getting to the front and just keep on galloping and grinding his opponents into submission. The form of his wins is moderate but the manner of his wins is sensational, the battle for the lead here should be interesting Annie Power is normally a front runner but Ruby is too cute and is unlikely to get involved in an early battle with Defy Logic,Declan Lavery is not as cute and will probably get involved in a race to lead with Defy Logic a race I think he will lose which will damage Moscow Mannon chances irrevocably. Defy Logic is a bet for me but even if you have no bet have a look at this race because it will be some contest. hows that wildmanfromborneo... |

WR ILL waste ANOTHER PHONE CALL AFTER I SAID WARNE WIN EASY
AND WE SHALL argue OVER THE CERTS? |

That's the style Workrider great that have a computer expert on the team.
One other point of interest is the bumper and the riding of Mr Reddington,he won on his first racecourse ride at the age of forty in Navan but that race was shrouded in fog so we are not sure how good or bad he is,the form was badly let down by Wicklow Gold yesterday. He is a true Corinthian so I wish him all the best and hope he enjoys the moment. |
|
By:
He's been undeniably impressive pa beating ok opponents, and his bumper 2nd to Sizing Gold is pretty decent form whichever way you look at it, but if you take a literal reading of the form with Sizing and Don Cossack then Cossack should win hard held, but dangerous to read too much into first time out bumper form?.
|
|
By:
He was ridden by a patently unfit JP Magnier in the Navan bumper who was a hindrance to the horse all the way up the straight.
|
|
By:
wildman is right, he was given a pathetic ride in that bumper
really like Defy Logic but i'm loathe to back anything trained by that disaster |
|
By:
Not one to read too much into jockey abilty wildman as I believe most of the pro's are much and a muchness and the best horse will invariably prevail, but I do agree with you as far as JP is concerned like super glueing a mannequin to the saddle.

I was at navan that day Wildmanfromboneo ,I backed Willies in it , all i heard was the cracking of whips 100 yds out , then out of he gloom came MR REDDINGHAM ....I cant see it beating OUTLANDER tbh ....Like yourself i wish him well....Just to give you a laugh , after all the talk last night about the young lads , Well this morning , my sons friend who's been asking me to take him racing for ages now asked me if i would take him to naas today....I said ok ...he'll arrive at my door around 1.15 pm and we'll head off ...You've guessed it , HE'S BLACK AND A MUSLIM....
..SHOULD BE FUN..... |
|
By:
One other curious feature about today's race is the riding of Tony McCoy in Ireland, whether its because he doesn't ride our tracks so often or not the fact is his riding is poor here,if you want an example look at his ride on Byerley Babe in Punchestown.
|
|
By:
Silver, its more Defy Logic reaction if he is headed/hassled early on(as said above very likely Annie Power) could be he may sulk though he did come from behind fto. Agree a real cracker of a race and hope he wins and impressively at that.

Very good reading of the jockeyship for that 3.25 Wildman,Ruby was indeed very cute even though she looks an exceptional mare.
Defy logic ran on,didn,t seem to show any signs of temperment to be fair. |

Well at least we know one thing, no re-incarnation of Istabraq occured today.

I referred earlier to the way Tony McCoy rides in Ireland and how it was a worry for me,I thought his ride on Defy Logic defied logic.
He tried to settle the horse and failed he should have let him stride out, should definitely have gone faster and tried to crank it up instead he allowed Ruby Walsh sit in behind and pounce between the last two despite Annie Power jumping badly. Don't write off Defy Logic as if ridden more aggressively I think few will pass him. |

By:
I would have to disagree with the assertion that McCoy should have gone faster. The time of the race was exellent and much quicker than either of the other hurdle races over the distance. In beating Don Cossack and Moscow Mannon comprehensively Defy Logic performed admirably and may have been unlucky in running into an exceptional mare.
|
|
By:
Excellent!!
|
|
By:
That is an interesting take on it Tolmi and the time is relevant.
Watching the race I felt they were going too slow for my liking as I feel Defy Logic is an out and out stayer,I agree about Annie Power being exceptional she didn't jump well and were she mine she would be put away for a flat campaign. |
|
By:
Funnily enough while watching the race I thought he might have let him stride on a bit but it would appear they were going plenty quick. It would appear though Defy Logic will alwys be vulnerable to something that can sit on his tail and pounce.
|
|
By:
I think Tolmi's synopsis of the novice hurdle is pretty accurate. McCoy may not have looked like he was going quick but that was largely due to the quality of horse that was chasing him as opposed to his previous runs.
Jesus wildman there won't be a good novice hurdler left around with the motions for Flat campaigns that you are making! Jezki and now Annie Power. If there was one horse to take out of the day it was surely the 4th horse in the opener. The only thing that'll stop him from making into a 120+ horse is if he gets a leg (which wouldn't be a shock either!). |
|
By:
I said Jezki has the speed to win on the flat but never recommended that they stop his jumping career as he is a gelding.
Annie Power is a mare and a Scirocco mare at that and were she mine way too good and valuable to race over hurdles. |
|

Nice tip today Wildman

Connections have no interest in breeding so I imagine they are more than happy to continue over jumps. She could be a Grade 1 winner with the upgrading of the race in Punchestown while she'd do well to break a 100 on the Flat. Makes sense to me anyway.
