i was just saying the same thing to my daughter , she works in the bank and gets me my sterling , if you think that's bad try getting even a £50 NOTE , impossible ...I am taking sterling as that's what i bet in ..My wallet is stuffed to the brim with £20 notes and its only around £1,ooo ..in total .A nightmare....

WR, rather than carry sterling across with you, your debit card will work in most of not all of the banks & calculate that days rate of exchange to your home bank. eg, if in cheltenham town you request say £500 from the hole in the wall, if the euro is worth 90 pence then your own account will be debited €550 approx.
