The weights came out today and good to see the English handicapper isint fooled by this running your chasers in hurdle races, both Seabass and Prince De Beauchene went up despite just running in a hurdle race last time out.

Nearly all who saw last years race were impressed with how easy On His Own was going before he came down at Bechers Brook second time round, his jumping had been immaculate. The handicapper seems to have been kind to him as he has given him a lovely racing weight,he is 5 pound better off with Seabass and 10 pound better off with Sunnyhill Boy.I think it is a given that Ruby Walsh will ride and although he has only ridden him once before I think he will suit him.
The improvement Willie Mullins has got out of the Wylie horses has been amazing and is proof of his brilliance,On His Own performance in the Thyestes was sensational.

It is a long time since I have been as confident about a horse in the Grand National and think he will follow in the footsteps of Red Alligator and West Tip and win this great race after falling the year before.
To many the 14/1 quoted doesn't seem generous but I think it is a super price but I don't see him shortening dramatically so will hold off the bet for a while.

Fair chance Tom Segal will put this one up as pricewise imo wildman.

Hedgehunter fell in 2004 as well before coming back in 2005 to win it.

Gl with this one.

It is still wise to run nationals horses in hurdles before the weights come out. Prince De Beauchene is rated higher because of his Bobby Joe run last season, which was after the weights were announced. Seabass deserves a rise of 5lbs on his last years run. I would be very surprised if ruby doesn't ride On His Own, considering he is on the same mark.

I never booked his holiday ticket he done that all by himself, but BF have a history of protecting their best forumites, the ones that give value to the forum. You're chirping away at their prize Irish forumite, so just be careful. Omerta is the word i believe that is used in BF towers, i stick to that as well.

Father Ted is "baffled" at the weight allotted to Seabass.
So he's surprised that a horse who won a Gr 2 AFTER he was awarded a mark of 149 for last years race, and then ran 3RD in said race, was raised 5LBs to 154!!!  Plain

Paul Nicholls has received the news that Tidal Bay has a tiny stress fracture and is out of the Grand National

I have got some bad news to report. Tidal Bay is out of the Grand National.

As previously mentioned, he was slightly lame before the Argento and we couldn't get him ready in time for that race, or the Irish Hennessy.

He was out cantering as usual on Monday and Tuesday, but on Wednesday we decided to step up his work.

But his work rider came back up and said he didn't feel right.

So we immediately called in Buffy and, after discussions, we got him down to Newmarket today for an MRI Scan.

The news through from Buffy is that Tidal Bay has a tiny stress fracture of the lower cannon bone on his right hind leg. This is something that the X-rays we took before his problem in the Argento didn't pick up; only today's MRI did.

He needs a month's box rest, so that rules out the National.

As soon as I got the news, I immediately rang Mr Wylie and we agreed to release this statement as soon as possible.
