2.15 waaheb
we all know what a decent bumper horse welds inmate was..but its afair to say he has a few questions to answer over hurdles..but for me hes the one to back here as i couldnt back the mullins horse after lto?..but i think he,s a 3m horse so 2m2 wont be enough anyway imo?..minsk has also disappointed..although his 2nd to rule the world may turn out to be better than the bare form..the english raider will need to step up on his fto win to be in the frame never mind win...WAAHEB is a standout for me.6l 2nd to jezski should make him the one to beat
good luck all

13..15..     i've backed diakali for chelt , having seen this fellow at punchestown i was very impressed think he'll win tomorrow as well ....14..15     one i'm interested in is summer star , well weighted and was a very good bumper horse ....
agree with you about waaheb ,  think if this fellos jumping improves he'll be very hard to beat...others looked as if they need a step up in trip....14 45 ...boston should have improved for his introduction at navan and is worth a good bet...
my heart says flemsenstar ...the head says sdc...i'll wait till i see them in the paddock before making my mind up....
15..50 discoteca is oe i backed over the xmas period i might have a little e/w on it...16..20 salsify likes it round here and should be coming to his peak ..i hope e can turnaround the form with tammys hill....good luck all punters...

Anyone see Azorian win in Kilfeacle.

My bet of the day is Salsify. He's a stone better on good ground and presuming the rain stays away (not rained all day here at Leop), he'll be extremely hard to beat on the best ground he's got all season.

Also like Our Conor in the G1 Juv Hdle, very big price on what he's done.

Think Lyreen Legend is an each-way steal @ 9/2 while Bog Warrior could be value in the big one, should he run Happy

I agree that Old Kilcash is the one in the bumper, that last effort is rock solid form!

If you like racing you should definitely be in Leopardstown as it is some card.

The first race is as good a race as I have seen for a while,my idea of the winner is the decently priced Dalasiri.I love his style of racing he sticks his head down and battles,he was beaten a head by Dogora at Gowran last time out with a distance back to the third, there was huge market confidence in Dogora punted into 2/5 the Mullins camp obviously think he is top class. The standard of this race is so high they are all dangers which is why we are getting such a good price on Dalasiri.

The third race is another good one and again I fancy an outsider Legal Exit, not a fan of the trainer but he looked a racehorse at Leopardstown. The horse he beat Urano could be a bit of a bucko as that was his third time being second the proximity of the third that day wouldn't be encouraging as Smithfield is useless but it was the manner of his victory that impressed me.The dead on eight runners make this a sweet each way bet just a pity there are only seven runners in the first.

think i'll leave waahebs race alone having watched the videos again this morning , with willies horse having a excuse for its last run and minsk looking as if this trip might suit , i'm starting to doubt that waaheb will stay this distance ...so leaving it alone , i suppose it shows how my confidence has diminished over recent results not going my way  ...lack of confidence in a punter is a terrible thing ....so diakali , boston bob , maybe e/w summer star and salsify.....heading over soon good luck all punters....

Some days racing today, the buzz there was great. The roar that went up when Boston Bob was briliant. The finishes in the Hunters chase was up there with the best. I have to say the difference between the atmosphere at flat racing and a good jumps meeting is vast.

The bookies got a good pasting there today and most punters would have done ok.

Very impressed with Our Conor and Champagne fever. Dont know what to think about sir des champs. Bumper winner should also go places. reat info about him last day or two.

Summer Star 170 Boston Bob 620 Salsify 100

I thought they got the tactics wrong on Flemenstar.Holding a strong travelling exuberant jumper out the back wont make him stay as you are not utilising his strong points.I would say there is lots of disagreement in the camp with 3 people voicing their differing opinions on how to ride him and what trip to run him at.
Report wildmanfromborneo February 11, 2013 9:03 AM GMT
Well said Tolmi.
I said earlier badly ridden which is unfair to Lynch as he was obviously riding to instructions.
Report soapp February 11, 2013 6:15 PM GMT
It certainly was a great day up there. The roar of the crowd was unreal as Boston Bob found wings to overhaul the unlucky Texas Jack. It reminded of the roar that greeted Danoli when he won the Hennessy many years ago.

I thought Chris Forwood in his blog today was too critical of Andrew Lynch. He said the ride was as bad a ride he has ever seen.

Here it is below

Flemenstar ride: you have to go a long way to see something as bad as that
.
Andrew Lynch: just what were the tactics?
10-02-13

Whether he was riding to instructions or not, Andrew Lynch’s riding display on Flemenstar in yesterday’s Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown was one of the worst I can remember.

Totally inept hardly covers it.

They say that the tactics which were going to be employed on the doubtful stayer were a closely guarded secret. That may or may not be true and I don’t know what was agreed but in practice the tactics seemed to consist to 'do all you can to totally bugger it up’.

Even if the tactics were not to hit the front too soon - and what would have been wrong with that? - Lynch should have worked out that there is no point getting his mount to jump superbly only to rein him back, throwing away all the advantage that had been gained.

He did it time and time again. It was the sort of nonsense you used to see about 25 years ago by a very third-rate rider.

At the second last, where Flemenstar put in a lot of effort to jump really well and cleanly, kicking on would have been the obviously thing to do. Hoever, Lynch still reined him back, standing in his stirrups to do so. That allowed Davy Russell on Sir Des Champs to kick on to the line, chased home by a one-paced Flemenstar.

If you are going to be one-paced then you want to be in front, not behind.

Sir Des Champs is known to be a bit of dodgy jumper but the only way you are going to try to exploit that is to put him under some pressure. The tactics employed by Lynch left Sir Des Champs time to measure his jumps rather like a show-jumper.

You can be sure that Flemenstar will now go for the Ryanair, but if Lynch is on board and again holds him back instead of kicking on he will be something to lay on the in-running market

Report Santry February 11, 2013 7:48 PM GMT
Whoever Chris Forwood is he doesn't know a lot about the game. Kicking on after the 2nd last is exactly what Andrew Lynch done in the Lexus and he got chinned after the last and the same would have happened on Saturday in similiar circumstances. Where did he get the idea Sir D Champs is a dodgy jumper?.The couple of slow leaps in the Lexus were totally out of character-the horse is a good jumper. Flemenstar will never truly stay 3 miles and its his sheer class thats sort of masking this fact.
Report Arklearkle February 11, 2013 7:58 PM GMT
I reckon his real name is Chris Backwood. They felt they had to employ those tactics to determine if he would get the GC distance. Now they know. End of.

Have to disagree with that.
The distance between the two horses over the last 3 fences  was more or less the same to the line,
If lynch had let Flem go on & nick a couple of lengths when it jumped to the front, then it would have probably have held that advantage to the line from a one paced SDC.
There is no question in my mind that it did stay...just not ridden to the best of its ability.
