Know its a friendly but the Irish team facing Poland tonight looks to be particulary weak. Dunne and St Ledger injured,no Robbie Keane or Shay Given, seems as if its going to be an experimental team to me.
Their recent results include wins against minnows Oman, Kazakstan and the Faroes while getting hammered against the Germans and losing to Greece.
Polish recent results include a loss to Uruguay,4-1 wins against Macedonia and Romania and a draw with England.
Not a big soccer bod myself and realise that friendlies are dangerous betting mediums, still would think if the Polish have anywhere near a full strength team they don't look a bad bet at around 15/8.Any views?

Friendly matches, hmm you have to be very careful with them pa, motivation i think is very important in them. I'll probably leave most alone including this one. GL though
Report pa lapsy February 6, 2013 1:23 PM GMT
I know Rocket, still though Ireland being honest are dire, alright a home match, still wouldn't get much of a crowd and a lot of them will be Poles. Early money is a drift on Ireland.
Report gentlemanjohn February 6, 2013 1:44 PM GMT
Quite surprising to see Ireland not favourites playing at home against a side like Poland 15 places below us on the Fifa world rankings. Can see why Poland could be fancied, assuming they have a near full strength team out, but don't see a bet at those prices. Wouldn't surprise me to see a nil-all bore
Report kavvie February 6, 2013 2:06 PM GMT
not a match to look at.go for a walk instead.classic scoreless bore id say
Report pa lapsy February 6, 2013 6:25 PM GMT
Ye could well be right might be as you say a bore, that wouldn't be anything new, still wouldn,t bother going for a walk, like to see how they get on,i,ll have a few hot whiskeys instead.
Report CheltenhamRoar February 6, 2013 6:27 PM GMT
Awful ireland team,But hardly surprising with that clown in charge,

McShane,Honestly ive seen better defenders in my local park and that's no exaggeration,And Conor Sammon is just awful,

Remember him with Wigan last season,Couldn't hit a cows arsé with a banjo.
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 6:32 PM GMT
ZZZZZ CheltenhamBoar name the team you would have named for tonight?
Report pa lapsy February 6, 2013 6:37 PM GMT
Rocket tis a valid point that CR thinks the Irish team is poor, surprised you missed a trick RF with the "trade" on Poland, quite a dramatic shortening.
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 6:50 PM GMT
Not saying it ain't i just asking him to name his team that he would have named instead, simple question he makes it sound like we had lots of players not picked for tonight.

As for the bet my rule number one pa is i never get involved in a match where i can't determine the motivation for both sides, friendlies are very tricky. What price would you have made Ireland btw with a full side?
Report pa lapsy February 6, 2013 6:54 PM GMT
In a competitive game ie wc/euro maybe about 6/4/ or 13/8 Rocket and to be honest i,d probably lay them.
Report MayoMan February 6, 2013 6:57 PM GMT
Poland might want to put in a performance for all their compatriots in Ireland - think it will end in a draw.
Report Dan Chipowski February 6, 2013 7:05 PM GMT
Poland team: Boruc, Perquis, Glik, Boenisch, Wawrzyniak, Lukasik, Krychowiak, Blaszczykowski, Obraniak, Pawlowski, Lewandowski

Poland win for me. Plain
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 7:11 PM GMT
If you can be sure Poland put it in that Polish side should turn our lads over alright, good luck with your play Pa.
Report JayTrumpOldTomDubbl February 6, 2013 7:40 PM GMT
Poland are going along nicely and got a 1-1 draw with our neighbours across the water.Ronnie Whelan was gobsmacked by the team traps intent on sending out.We have in the region of 123k Polish people here at the moment, according to Pat Kenny's radio show today.Their goalie Boruc plays with Southampton, and is having a great season. This polish team are very young, but are well able to play, and are anxious to continue their upward movement, and should beat this poor Irish team. Of course it is a friendly, backer beware, but Poland for me, 1 or 2 nil.
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 7:42 PM GMT
This is a home game for Poland
Report el gato February 6, 2013 8:00 PM GMT
Good luck to Connor Sammon but are down to this?
Report Dan Chipowski February 6, 2013 8:20 PM GMT
Don't think Sammon has actually had a kick yet.

Poles completely dominating, Lewandowski missing a 1 on 1.
Report Dan Chipowski February 6, 2013 8:23 PM GMT
Goal Clark, 1-0 Ireland! Plain
Report pa lapsy February 6, 2013 8:23 PM GMT

Report PHILthePOWER February 6, 2013 8:28 PM GMT
Are you watching Eamonn Dunphy?
Report pa lapsy February 6, 2013 8:41 PM GMT
Despite dominating possession the Poles really only created the 1 clear cut chance, hard to see them doing better in the 2nd half truth be told.
Plenty of bodies back for Ireland and an adequate more than stylish defence. One time Ireland got in the Poles box they scored.Poles seemed desperate at times just hoofing a ball into the box.
Report gentlemanjohn February 6, 2013 8:54 PM GMT
Thought Poles were quite decent actually pa, Forde did quite well after his horrendous early error, cant see Poland not scoring assuming they dominate possession again, cant see paul green making much difference on that front!
Report CheltenhamRoar February 6, 2013 8:56 PM GMT
Well Mr Fantasist,i certainly wouldnt have the likes of McShane and Sammon anywhere near the team,Thats for sure,

Trap isn't a fan of any player who can actually play the game,Hence why he doesn't pick the likes of Coleman  and Hoolahan.
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 9:19 PM GMT
Cheltenhambore Coleman is injured, do you do any research before you post? We all know Sammon is not good enough to get into our starting 11 but let him have a look. McCarthy our best player in the prem this year is there and so is our brightest prospect in Brady, so typical idiotic comments from you. You know he can't pick Messi?
Report gentlemanjohn February 6, 2013 9:25 PM GMT
Wow, skill from Hoolahan and Hendrick there, so Ireland can play after all! Trap will be seething, might have to pick them from the start now
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 9:25 PM GMT
Let this thread be pulled up anytime anybody suggests betting on a friendly, madness. Oh Ya get innnnn Ireland, lovely goal.
Report CheltenhamRoar February 6, 2013 9:28 PM GMT
Coleman has been one of irelands outstanding players for the past 2 years and Trap kept ignoring him Thicko,

i can tell you know Sammon will never be good enough, its not that hard if u follow the game,
Report CheltenhamRoar February 6, 2013 9:30 PM GMT
See what happens when hoolahan gets a look in Retardfingers??

Only took Trap 4 years to realise Hoolahan is a quality footballer
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 9:34 PM GMT
Trap has played him the last few times when he i fit bore but something you may have missed is Coleman has huge issues defending, he has cost Everton a lot this season, Trap can see this and saw can Moyes and that's why he spent £3.5 million on a right back recently. Coleman is very eye catching going forward but to the more astute he has issues. I love Coleman btw.
Report CheltenhamRoar February 6, 2013 9:38 PM GMT
Why has it taken him so long to play the likes of Coleman,McClean and Hoolahan??

Simple the man is clueless,Have you ever heard of a player getting a run out at a European Championship that wasn't attached to a Club???

Sums trap up in a nutshell.
Report pa lapsy February 6, 2013 9:43 PM GMT
Rocket your some beauty, you put up a thread to trade on Liverpool and they drifted by 20% and you acted the langer when they scored,no trader with decent money would chance a result, they would get out on the loss of a few ticks.
I made a 15/8 call wrong, nearly 2 from 3 times you are wrong with them, anyway i note your big statement of pulling threads came after the second goal.
Well done Ireland and a lovely cool goal from Wes
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 9:48 PM GMT
Pa you were told before the game and by more than me, but as they say as long you learn from this it's a good thing imo for you and that's the main thing mate !

Onward and upward for you two !
Report pa lapsy February 6, 2013 10:01 PM GMT
You,re statement of its "like a home game for Poland" stunk of a foot in both camps however.
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 10:05 PM GMT
Not sure what you mean by that Pa but i would say there was more Polish there than Irish.
Report CheltenhamRoar February 6, 2013 10:19 PM GMT
Would you blame them?i wouldnt pay to watch them as long as trapatoni is in charge
Report Rainier Wolfcastle February 6, 2013 10:22 PM GMT
Moyes spent £3.5m on a right back recently because Phil Neville is on the way out and because Hibbert and Coleman have spent more time on the sidelines than they have on the pitch this season. Stones is an 18 year old and will not be anywhere near the starting 11 or the bench when Everton have a fully fit squad.
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 10:30 PM GMT
I very much doubt that Rainer, Coleman has been dropped twice in a 12 month period from the squad for mistakes, Cost Everton at the end of last season in the derby at Wembley then this season v Wigan then v Fulham and then after v Reading where he made 2 mistakes in the one match. Stones is a serious prospect and Moyes has a history of giving youth a chance.
Report CheltenhamRoar February 6, 2013 10:48 PM GMT
Coleman is not a right full, hope this helps.

i think you'll find his best performances for Everton have been on the Right wing.
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 10:52 PM GMT
Oh sweet god, go away CheltenhamBore, Coleman is a right full he is not a right hand midfielder, he will never be. You are clueless beyond belief.
Report kavvie February 6, 2013 11:36 PM GMT
rocket as far as i can see moyes has played him right mid more that right back in recent times..thats where his future lies
Report mightymoyes February 6, 2013 11:39 PM GMT
afraid not, before his recent injury it looked like he was finally making the RB position his own. pity he cant stay fit!
Report Rocketfingers February 6, 2013 11:55 PM GMT
Actually Kavvie pretty sure he has not played once at Right mid this season, played full back in a friendly at Moterwell and done well and with Hibbert's injury he more or less kept it since. I've been watching Seamie Coleman for years and i can tell he's a full back he may have played right midfield but he's a right back but still has to improve his defending. The injuries have not helped him but his defending has been questioned a few times this season, going forward very exciting and when Mirallas was flying fit him and Coleman were great to watch but his defending is still suspect and has cost Everton this season. I travel to Everton matches home and away when i can and the reason Coleman was played right mid was  because he was suspect defending he's improved but i believe to be fair to Trap he has spotted this and you'll probably being more defending with Ireland than with Everton.
Report kavvie February 7, 2013 1:30 PM GMT

So Retard reckons he cant defend,But very exciting going forward,Yet tells us he's not a potential right winger.
