How about Kilkenny, very atmospheric senic town. Motorway all the way to Larne, I think, slightly above 3 hour journey, I imagine.

How about Glendalough the ancient monastic settlement an area of great natural beauty, its a little off the beaten track to be fair, but the N11 is not that far once you're on that you soon meet up with the M11/M50 and its virtually motorway all the way, just follow the signs for Belfast and you should make Larne well within your alloted time, there is a hotel and plenty of guesthouses around the area, can have a few pints in the Tavern.
But if you're coming for the summer might be better to find somewhere quieter, as its inclined to attract its fair share of coach loads.

Thanks for all the advice lads but as usual when planning something a spanner has just been thrown in the works. The daughter who is in finance(coming with us)has just told me she wont be able to get my day 1 off due to month end work.So I'll have to set off a day later, head straight across to Achiill Island & go to the Giants Causeway on the final day instead of the second day. Once again I'm very grateful for your help but I suppose these hiccups are sent to try us.

i've just finished reading the posts & I'm having a smile to myself.I've been over several times & I'm primarily coming over for the flap at Dingle thus the three nights there. The smile I'm having is the comment about West Cork.Once when over on the way to Blarney I passed a monument for Charlie Hurley.Well me not being into history assumed it was the Charlie Hurley who played for Sunderland & Ireland. When I got back home(close to Sunderland)told the Sunderland supporters I knew, that I'd past Charlie Hurleys monument.Of course I got told he's not dead & of course I'm saying he is dead I've passed his monument. It wasn't till I got on google that I read about the Charlie Hurley that the monuments there for.Believe me,I got some stick over that one. Once again thanks for all the help,I'm very grateful. If any of you are coming over here & need help give me a shout on the Racing Forum.I'll do my best to help you if I can.
