Getting the ball rolling again for the weekends action. Last weekend was one of the best weekends of NFL playoff games in the history of the sport.

Onto the weekend ahead my main bet is San Francisco on the hcp. Atlanta despite been no 1 seeds have not convinced me at all. They got out of jail last weekend and surely if Seattle had utilized Wilson's running more in the 1st half they would have been easy victors. At times I was shouting at the TV to let him run and the Seahawks missed a beat there. I would imagine San Fran deep down would prefer facing Atlanta away than the prospect of Seattle at home. San Fran are have much the better defense and are more balanced on offense too. They won't make the same mistake as Seattle and expect to so see CP making plenty of runs from the QB position, added with the power running of Gore they could have a field day. The line is -3.5 I would back San Fran -7 so big bet here.

The second game is probably the game I am looking forward to the most. The Ravens more than any other team in recent times have given me the most pleasure watching their games in the play offs. Whether it is overtime wins or losses in the dying seconds they have been magnificent TV. They are getting 9 here which is probably my fancy but hard to be too enthusiastic given the opposition. They have the players to do it however and are a team on a roll but New England in New England is an intimidating prospect. I am going to have a speculative punt on the Ravens for the SB. Both my outright bets went down last weekend and I am betting with my heart here. I really hope the Ravens can do it regardless of financial interest because if any team deserved another SB it is them.

Good write up Mr P. I havent got totally thru the homework but i dont
think i will be much different from the above.
Will post all the useless stuff tomorrow.

Thanks DK. The thread has been surprisingly quiet so far.

Everyone must be studying hard Mr P.

Ive got a little portfolio done.

Missed a bit of early week value on the points spreads
but took SF -3.5  And Baltimore + 8.5

Missed at least a point on baltimore but a bit like
last week i think its gona be very close with baltimore
having a chance of getting the win.
Once they avoid those dumb Special teams plays like last week.
Its gona be tough but gifting the Pats easy points and its all over!

Probably doing an outright bet a week late but they are 9/1
for the lot so ill have a small play there.

Done some player yards bets.

Crabtree under 92.5
Pitta over 45.5
Atlantas corners or more than useful and could keep crabtrees
catches low. And the pats linebackers dont do well against the pass
so that could leave pitta open and Flacco threw at him quite a bit last week.

Pitta 1st TD @ 14s aswell. That lot should keep me entertained for a bit.
Report mr phantom January 20, 2013 4:30 PM GMT
I like your call on Pitta dk especially on over 45.5 yards. I like you think he will see a lot of the ball too. I read that the tipping pariah that is Phil Agius might have put the kiss of death on San Fran by tipping them on the hcp for a point, but surely he has got to get one correct right? His under tip is to load up on New England (-7), lets hope he is licking is wounds. The line has really come in though from the 9.5 earlier in the week.

He has failed to advice a hcp winner in the play offs so far if my memory is correct so that is 0/8.....though don't take that as given as not 100% on his advice on New England Houston game last week though nearly sure it was Houston getting the points which is 0/8 on his picks so far surely he can find some better to do the picks for the racing post (he is the papers editor I think).

That Bosher can't punt under pressure but with Akers not being able to land field goals Atlanta should still hang on.
Among all those hordes on the sideline is their no back up punter and no back up kicker.

Really hope the Ravens can do it here now, especially after last year and Cundiff with the last kick of the game Angry
Report dkelly69 January 20, 2013 11:18 PM GMT
On a 3.5 hcap that never happens with a 4 point win!
Good start and no need to reload!
Im trying not to type a ravens match bet out.
Coz like PremierF im rooting for the ravens,
with last year, the whole ray lewis retirement (which is tiresome already)
and the Harbowl its like the Headlines are written!

Wont bet yet. Maybe in running.

Just looking ahead what are SF gona do with Akers?
Squeaky bum if hes needed late in the Superbowl! Or just needed!
Report wildmanfromborneo January 20, 2013 11:21 PM GMT
Fly over Ronan OGara.
Surely they have back up kickers, that mans confidence is shattered,it will be like the Rugby with field goals being declined and early fourth down plays.
Report mr phantom January 20, 2013 11:22 PM GMT
Yes I agree dk Akers is a disaster waiting to happen.

Lets hope the Ravens can do it, I am not tempted to get involved financially as I know I will be jumping off my seat anyways.
Report dkelly69 January 20, 2013 11:24 PM GMT
Maybe loadsa 4 down plays and just wheel him out for the x point WMFB

They brought in Cundiff for last weeks game then cut him!
So the job is probably up for grabs maybe?
That replay of Cundiff from last year there hard to watch.
Was like my Drives, straight hook off the tee!!
Report wildmanfromborneo January 20, 2013 11:29 PM GMT
With such an obvious weakness surely now is the time to lay the Forty Niners, that lack of confidence will affect the rest of the team.
Report mr phantom January 20, 2013 11:40 PM GMT
LOL @ dk

I doubt one kicker will affect the rest of the team wildman, its gonna be a close SB regardless of who wins this game
Report mr phantom January 20, 2013 11:41 PM GMT
Which of course means you do want an in form kicker but not sure if worthy enough to lay, not with confidence anyways

Market is weak but if New England were to win well tonight I think they would be heavy odds on for the Super Bowl and even if The Ravens managed an upset I don't think the Forty Niners would be huge odds on.

This Ray rice on first down for one yard is getting ridiculous!
Report mr phantom January 21, 2013 1:46 AM GMT
I was saying the same thing. It was getting too predictable and conservative, they done the same thing last week towards the end and offensive play calling always been a bit of an Achilles heel for the ravens. Of course that changed on the last drive. At last Pitta got to see the ball and overs bet has landed. Stan James were 8/11 over 45.5 yards where the rest of the bookies a bit higher. PP's had it at 50.5 so they knew.
Report dkelly69 January 21, 2013 1:51 AM GMT
I think caldwell is a bit nervy calling alright. but That flacco lad isn't
bad when they mix up the play calling all right!
I didn't look at any other firms for Pitta coz I
Had cash in the SJ a/c. Think it was 20/23!
I went off him and backed smith for first 2nd half TD!! :-(
Did you do pitta overs?
Ravens can take this!
Report mr phantom January 21, 2013 1:57 AM GMT
No 8/11 was too skimpy for me and I did not want to make a stupid decision in terms of a forced double. I tipped it to some mates of mine looking for my advice on a bet. Ravens getting stronger and the calling improving, the Pats defense looks like it is getting tired. Cam Cameron was the same in terms of calling at times. Always frustrated the bejaysus out of me
Report dkelly69 January 21, 2013 2:02 AM GMT
I did do the greedy double! :-)
Wish i had the stones for that spread lark!
Cameron was almost stubborn at times
But late last week and now this week they
Have let Flacco loose! That's Gona cost them
Come contract time coz he's playing out of his skin.

Patriots defense is goosed looking all the more likely we are going to have the Harbough bowl...............Go Ravens!!!!!
Report dkelly69 January 21, 2013 2:23 AM GMT
Think talib going down early hurt them
Don't wana be too presumptuous but
Should be all done now :-)

Some crazy decisions costing the pats. Not taking the time out after play finished at the end of the 1st half and Brady throwing ball away on 4th down when 1st down seemed a gimme on his feet
Report dkelly69 January 21, 2013 2:25 AM GMT

Report mr phantom January 21, 2013 2:49 AM GMT
Yes we will get something up and running. 5 outta 5 on main tips not bad going with a few others thrown in.
Report wildmanfromborneo January 21, 2013 10:10 AM GMT
Think they are betting wrong in the Super Bowl, the wrong team are favourites.
The Forty Niners have a huge problem in their field goal kicker Akers but even apart from that the Baltimore Ravens have been the more impressive, they travelled to the Mile High stadium and had that incredible win, they were even more impressive in Foxboro whereas the Forty Niners were a shade lucky in Atlanta apart from the dubious call.
Joe Flacco has the experience and has been mistake free,Kaepernick has played brilliantly but think defence coaches may cop on to him now and learn how to play him.
Mr Phantom and dkelly69 have been in sensational forum so I look forward to their ideas and hope thet will both fancy the Ravens as well.
Nevermore.

What a great night of football Grin delighted the Patriots where beat in their own back yard. How about that Ravens D Fence from inside their own 25, absolutely awesome. Boldin was brilliant in the 2nd half but the Patriots really missed Talib when he went off.

Should be a great Superbowl (HarbaughBowl), i don't think the 49ers where lucky at all last night, they where by far the better team in my opinion and almost blew it.
Report mr phantom January 22, 2013 1:12 AM GMT
I have to agree with premier I don't think the 49ers were lucky either but totally concur with wildman regarding Akers who might turn out to be a luxury they cannot afford.

I have the blinkers on a bit in terms of the final as already stated I really want the ravens to win. I don't have a side as such in NFL just certain teams I take a shine too. The 49ers defense have being below par in the playoffs. Sure they stepped it up in the 2nd half against the packers but a lot of that was due to the extra pressure on the packers offense as their defense were incapable of doing anything.

I will have a look at the markets closer to the time but for me the ravens have come the harder route but I do think the overall standard was higher in the NFC this year.
