Thought he was a little casual on this one. Seemed reluctant to tag onto leaders down the back and did not knock mount about too much when he did get in touch. looked a harmless bloody ride to be fair.
I backed him and was a bit shocked he got beat after getting to the two in front at the last, don,t think i could blame Casey as the winner found an awful lot on the run in and seemed to be almost sprinting. To have him so far off the pace when going so well was i,d agree debatable tactics.

I agree Wildman on his jumping , it was poor. All the more reason to be up with the van when he was traveling so well.At least then if he put in a real howler he would be close enough to keep in contention. Anyone else think Ruby would have won on this fellow?

Had a decent bet today and on it's first run for the Mullins stable a few weeks ago.I laid off at 1.24 in running today and made a few quid but I am still genuinely confused by the ride it got.The common feature of it's two runs in Ireland has been a reluctance to put the horse under any kind of pressure.Maybe the horse has problems but the leaders went off very fast today Rupert Lamb should have been able to pick up the pieces but got an anaemic ride.

I backed it and dont see how anyone can blame the jockey what so ever. Was produced perfectly at the last to win and found close to zilch, had every chance if good enough

Im not implying there was anything sinister about the ride . It was just misjudged and to be fair to David Casey he is far from the biggest culprit in keeping horses too far out of their ground and paying the price for it. How many winners have P Carberry , J Spencer and more recently J Reavley missed out on by trying to look "cool". It looks great when it works out but when it dont.....Why do it in the first place , there is no gain.

BJG-were you 100 per cent happy with the ride.As I said I made a few quid through laying off but I would love to ask Willie does the horse have problems at home or does he instruct his jockeys not to go easy with the whip.

Just have a look at his previous race at Navan when ridden by Ruby. Given a very easy time then as well. Either the horse is disappointing or its been aimed at some long term target.

I have looked at the race again and to be honest I thought he timed his challenge perfectly. He arrived from off the pace to draw level at the last and got beaten two and a half lengths after a couple of sharp reminders.I think the horse is a weak finisher...on that ground anyway.Anyone critising Casey should look at the horses previous runs which included four seconds after travelling well.

Done my money on Rupert Lamb on the basis that he was never asked to race at Navan late on .Different tactics employed at Fairyhouse and at the last he looked a winner all over. Either is a weak finisher or doesnt stay the trip .

Didn't see much wrong with the ride either, had every chance at the last and Casey got serious enough but very little response, could pick out a 1001 worst examples than that ride.

He would have won further if there more fences, jumped like a buck. Whether Casey has lost his bottle or just his confidence I don't know but nearly every horse he is jocked off wins soon after.
