The likes of Stander, Payne, Strauss all coming into the Irish set up in recent years, this is due to our clout in wage structure compared to SA and NZ, we could have a very decent side in future years. This will be to the detriment of Irish players but feck it other have done it for years. Any views.
Rugby set up in Ireland is a good model for most countries . Partly due to the success we have had , the crowds keep coming in and the players are well paid , fair play to them , the physical efforts they make over a long season are strenuous . Playing too many games in my opinion , and with international demands as well I am surprised there are not more injuries .
Foreign born nationals will gravitate to where it suits them best to play , with family and other commitments in mind . The South African cricketers have found solace in England , likewise NZ are pretty adept at mopping up the island rugby players . Its the way of the world now , and as long as there is a preponderance of native players I dont mind . Would be worried though if the flow if younger Irish lads dwindled to a trickle .
