See the end of the "recuperating the xmas expenses" thread for a bit of a flavour.

in his defence the horse was a bit disappointing, but a poor effort all the same from the chap,he did have a few days off to ponder how the race would pan out, surely race in second 5 or 6 off the fav would of got him home,,id say our rob isnt the sharpest tool in the box..

I am not sure he would have, tho there is no doubt "Puppy" should have had him closer,in my opinion the fav was idling in front and don't think they closed at all in the final furlong.

Thought the horse ran its race today,it traveled  and jumped well on the whole and stayed on well in the straight.

What did you all want him to do? Take on Arvika Ligeonaire up front? Sit handy and well clear of the rest? Perhaps he couldn't go the pace of the winner early?

Just wondering.

And would you not be disappointed with how close Baily Green finished to him or would you put that down to a poor ride?

kavvie, tis all water under the bridge at this stage but I'm at a loss to explain it,I suppose Townend was always going to lead in this race but it was the amount of rope allowed that is what's the issue from what I can see, wouldn't be concerned by the proximity of Baily Green at the death as it has clearly improved.

It's like Power never saw Arvika Ligeonniere's last dominating run at Fairyhouse.
