Cracking handicap, think Cause of Causes (25 exch,22/1 sj 16/1 gen) has a fair chance of running well.Last time out ran an eyecatching race at Cheltenham finishing 3rd behind Olofi and Cash and Go,stayed on that day and nearly ought to have won.
Slightly better off in the weights tomorrow,he is at least double the price of the two that finished in front.Balder Sucess is a deserving favourite following a fairly disappointing run at Wincanton with an easy win at Haydock.Irish challengers Rattan,Thomas Edison and Priceton Plains imo mightn,t be good enough.
Think Henderson has improved Roberto Goldback 2.35, back to Ascot where he won nicely fto for him and was in the process of running a good race til coming to grief in the henessey, think he has a good chance of defying the weight and conditions should suit.GL.

I've backed Olofi @ 14s and 12s and Double Ross @ 25s.

Don't see why any of them that finished behind Olofi in the Greatwood at Cheltenham should reverse form and he would have won easier had he not been hampered turning in in my opinion. The ground was poor that day at Cheltenham so it will not be any problem, more of a problem could be going right handed as the one time he went that way he ran cack but i think it's fair to give him another chance and he still looks on the upgrade to me.

Double Ross won well the same day at Cheltenham as the Greatwood over further (2m 5f) and then ran well at Haydock next time over 2m 4f where he just faded in the straight. I don't think the drop back in trip will be a problem and the ground will be in his favour, i think he will go close.

4yr olds have an awful record the last number of years in this as does anything 8 or older so it rules out a lot and quite a few fancied runners too (if you're into stats).

Also like Hey Big Spender in the race before the Ladbroke @ 4s, he's off a good mark, has ran well fresh before after a long lay off and he will have absolutely no problems with the ground.

Navan gone, wouldn,t think theres much point in looking at Limerick with the way the forecast is either.
Fran Berry is on the Japanese horse at Lingfield 2.25.He won a listed race at Dundalk well enough in October, suppose his aim must be that "Winter Derby" as his campaigning seems to have been on mostly A.W in his homeland. An interesting runner on a track i loathe.

Go shout Lapsy

The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Davy Condon, the rider of the winner, CAUSE OF CAUSES (USA), from the second last fence. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Davy for 4 days as follows: Sunday 6, Monday 7, Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 January 2013.

I hope them stewards are not just being dirty feckers, didn,t see anything wrong at the time(thing like that is hard to see granted) Won nicely in the end couldn,t imagine it will take too much gloss of it as it was such a big pot,but a sour little note all the same.
