i have already disagreed with you with cash, have a wedge on rock on ruby at 1/1 to beat grandouet, think people continue to under estimate rock on ruby and the horse may prove the point today. other bet worth looking at is dr crokes -5 at 4/5 tomorrow.

Zarkandar at 5/4 bet of the weekend for me. Have a rev forecast with Zarkandar and Grandouet done also. Wouldn't give Rock on Ruby any chance on that ground against the other two

I'll be happy if Rock On Ruby runs decent and comes back safe and i'll keep backing him for March

Best of luck with your dr crokes bet tomorrow kl

Interesting race today, the winner(received 4lbs ) is very tough and genuine and has now beaten Grandouet 3/3.(tho one of those was at Aintree where Grandouet was apparently going the better). It looks as if the three of them might not run again till the champion in probably very different ground conditions.I wouldn't write off any of the three,Zarkandar was probably idling in front but will he be outpaced on better ground,ROR will be suited by ground/pace in March and Grandouet-I think he is all class but is he a bridle ponce??
Ruby could have a dilemma with Zarkandar and Hurricane Fly,even if HF mops up the grade 1s all winter here on soft, there still has to be major doubts about him on probable better ground at the festival. I still really like Grandouet and he will probably come on a bit for his seasonal debut and appreciate a better surface, but you don't often see a champion won on the bridle.Any thoughts?? |

the thing to remember dj is , zarkandar not only was it getting 4lbs but it had race fitness on its side ..so still all to play for come march with that trio ...my own fancy is countrywide flame , i was really impressed with this fellows win in the fighting fifth....

Quite obviously the one to take from today is Grandouet. A thoroughly pleasing comeback. Countrywide Flame? You on something again Wonky? This beast will be totally outclassed in a Champion. If indeed he lines up. One for the mugs this lad...

rock on ruby wasn't fully fit
I'd be very surprised if he doesn't at least one more more before the champion hurdle Problem for him is there are so many good hurdlers around he'll struggle to get an egg and spoon race somewhere. He's not that good that he scares away opposition and Oscar Whiskey will mop up anything at 2m 4f. |

ROR goes straight to Chelt acc to trainer after today - very odd sayin it was lack of a run that cost him today!

Rock On Ruby's trainer Harry Fry commented: "I think a combination of the ground and not having had a run has cost him, but Noel felt he was as good as ever and we might go straight to the Festival."

ROR to have 1 more run before Cheltenham now, surprised they have changed their plans, didn't do him any harm not running from Christmas to Cheltenham last year

Lads moved Crokes to 10/11 -6pts this morning
Still comfortably beat the hcap. Good call but I gave it a skip. Castleknock needed extra time to get past St Peters in Manchester, thought they'd be a shoo-in, no prices quoted anywhere though. Not sure how they will fare against Provincial opposition, especially without Ciarain Kilkenny. |
