I say give the bloke a chance -it's a hell of a job trying to salvage a wrecked economy with no money in the kitty , an angry and disgruntled populace and a generally mocking and sneering media.
The efforts of the government can only be judged in about 30/36 months time .
The Irish people need to show some patience and fortitude. many a team has been 3 goals down at half-time and came back to win the game. We're not even at half-time yet in this project.
As for this Keaveney guy -he makes me sick with his playacting about his conscience and his values. He's what the Americans call a 'quitter'...couldn't hack it when the going got tough.taxpayers'
Him and Childers and Shortall are all of a kind -effectively they  only want to govern in a perfect world.

I don't worry too much about Kenny's IQ or his style of vocal delivery.
Rhetoric is all very fine but it doesn't do much for the GNP. ( Fine words butter no parsnips and all that !)
Funnily enough someone like Kenny could be just what's needed to find a way through the morass -a middle of the road guy who keeps a cool head in the engine room.
The problem for him in the media is that he doesn't have many good lines to use-all he can say is suffer on a little longer and wait for a turning in the road.
The opposition has the easy job of emoting over every issue and showing how 'caring' and 'concerned ' they are -anyone can spin that line round the clock from the safety of the sidelines.
SF as usual peddle their pernicious lies . Dr. Alan Ahearn exposed the latest one on the Today show this week -that blowhole Doherty is going on about the promissory 'taking  E3.1bn out of the pockets of the Irish people.
That is simply not the case -that's not how it works. But lies are second nature to Gerry ( never in the IRA)
Adams-McConville and Mary Loo ( jesus help us)
And as for FF , Martin , Weasel O'Dea etc . -they're a busted flush with zero credibility.
Faute de mieux -we have to trust that the current government can get a reasonable repair job done over time.
In this endeavour we hasten dlowly.

But king-it's not just down to one man -no one individual could be on top of all the areas of emergency that are causing grief at the moment no matter what his intellect or verbal fluency.
Kenny's job is to graft through this dawill y by day , chivvying ministers along , keeping the coalition as stable as possible against the back-stabbers  and trying to maintain amicable relations with various EU agencies and personnel on whom we depend. Hopefully Ireland's presidency of the EU can raise morale and encourage some amelioration of our difficulties as  contacts intensify .
There's an incredible amount of cynicism abroad -but what we all need is a little more stoicism and a lot less hysteria.

So here it is -merry Christmas -I don't give a flying phukk
about families , or children or folk down on their luck
I'm all right , I'm rolling -too bad if you are poor
Just barrel on down to SVP -they'll help you out I'm shoor.

The world is really quite unfair but it doesn't bother me
All my needs are catered for -I'm always on a spree
Between your income level and mine there's great disparity ,
Too bad old chum -I'll live it up while you depend on charity.

Happy now ? Grin

prob is lads we have no credible alternative.dont think we want ff?or the shinners with their idiotic policys?so were stuck with what we got.so we really have no alternative.the country is ready for a new party but i dont think anyone has the intrest in forming a new party?

The guy is a joke as is the rest of his default goverment, only in goverment because the people took their revenge on that other shower of rats Fianna Fail.

Some choice in the next general election for the impoverished Irish populace, Fine Gael, Labour, Fianna Fail, the shinners, or a bunch of wimpsical independents, the very thought of voting for any of them makes my skin crawl.

Did you hear Kenny in the Dail this week defending the carers allowance cuts, he said in a rebuke to Michael Martin that his party Fianna Fail cut the carers allowance when they were in power, as if that was a valid enough reason for his party to cut it even more (slash it), you couldn't make it up if you tried, and he's the leader of our country?.

vubiant as usual your bigotry and hatred shines through in your posts on this thread.......you talk of the sf lies....i have just spent a week in roscommon where the locals were telling me exactly all about the extent of the lies the were peddled bg fg/labour.....your posts on horse racing and general sports are usually of the better nature on this forum but when politics are concerned your hatred and bigotry of anything republican seem to come to the fore.....

Bertie Ahern ? This man was responsible for carnage. People in the banks done what they liked knowing that they would be saved if if things went wrong. The financial regulator must have had his head up in the alto stratus not to see what was going on in Anglo. Bertie thought the party was going to last forever and rode the wave not thinking of a rainy day or if things could go wrong. He basically went to the races with all our lives and came out without a winner. The future of our country is pretty grim and Mr Ahern played a major part in it. As for CJ ..
