Much, much better than showing Chelsea who very few people support in Ireland anyway because:

1. They have only become noted since '04 when most people where supporting Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal & Leeds.

2. They are well known to have major UVF links with their Headhunter/Rangers brigade and are generally perceived to be anti-irish

Lucky some of us keep religion and politics out of sport.

I read a line recently in an article written by a leading London journo "The nouveau riche Irish and the Irish of political class started to follow Chelsea when Roman Abramovich took over the club, this is well known. They are nicknamed the silverspoon paddy brigade over there at Stamford bridge, they have no history with the sport and just want to be seen."

Rocketfingers.........I have to agree with you there.......I have noticed a bigger Irish support in stamford bridge since Abramovich pumped in the money......Soccer is a money game......big money brings big players, big players bring success and success brings crowds.
Most teams in the premiership got loads of Irish supporters during the boom most are now just confined to the TV.......The crowds in Dublin airport on a saturday morning were a fright........not as many nowadays.

rte did a great job in picking Celtic to follow this year in europe, after everyone thought spfa was dead due to the huns demise.  How did they know they would have their first away win in CL proper? how did they know they would beat Barca? how did they know that Celtic would qualify?  Hail Hail!!!Love  I am sick of watching boring PL teams in europe.

agreed Newmanix, I'd much rather watch Juve, Bayern or Dortmund. The love-in with the EPL does my head in

Agree with the comments regarding the EPL,seem very average teams at the moment and the way they play with similar styles makes for mundane viewing to me in general.
Enjoyed the Celtic matches in the CL,they were at least exciting matches.
For all the Chelsea Irish fans Devil bbc2 are showing their match tomorrow morning around 10.00 am. Should be a half decent match with contrasting styles.
