On his 3rd run of the season, I think Realt Dubh is worth a shout at 3/1 (Laddies) to beat Flemenstar on his season debut. Flemenstar should prove the better horse in the long run but hopefully fitness will make the difference today.

Think Big Zeb , the only specialist 2 miler in the field and the winner of this race for the last 3 years is a great bet at 5/1. Flemenstar is a 2 1/2 mile plus horse whose only defeat last season was at this meeting and Realt Dubh needs further then 2 miles.

I think Big Zeb is a huge price myself and have had a few quid on.
Also think Mossely is worth a few bob in the Lismullen hurdle. 20/1 with VC is a nice each way price

plenty of food for thought there lads , db1974 what you say is so true , fitness  is a big thing , thats the main reason for getting to the races at this time of year , i'l have a look at them in the parade ring then make my decision , i'd be a little worried about realt dubh tbh ...i wonder how much last weeks race took out of him ..he was bang there with 3 to jump ...so to all intents and purposes he had tough enough race , the going and the bounce factor i'd say could have played a big part ...big zeb an enigma but what a horse on his day...

I will be amazed if Big Zeb wins here, on ground thats not really suitable, especially on its reappearance.

Great racing today.
Don't Tell Pa 1.35 Lim. Takes his chance here after having 3/4 entries to pick from over the weekend.Beat The Boys Don't Know who franked the form midweek, did that in good style.Of his opponents Senor Again would have the class on last years form, disappointing run last time, the rest look much of a muchness. 7/2 for the selection looks a fair bet to me to continue his improved form. I'm going to have a nibble on Captain Arceus against the hotpot in the 13.15,I'm hoping that Flemenstar doesn't even come off the bridle.

De Bromhead is a fair man at this training lark.......cracking horse that sizing rio.
Dessie Hughes also has a nice juvenile on his hands.....Our Conor has a good attitude, jumps well and travels..........Triumph hurdle horse imo.

Report tony57 November 11, 2012 2:57 PM GMT

Mangan comprehensively outrode Harrington in the straight and is hugely promising.

looks to me like they're going to find it tough to get realt dubh back to anyway near his best , seems like a horse that's lost its way....

Cracking card down there yesterday and good crowd too.

Race 1) Our Conor (8/13f) Won as expected.  Bryan Cooper the new kid on the block.

Race 2) Sizing Rio (4/5f) A good performance making all against older horses. Andrew Lynch had to be strong at the finish when Ruby bore down on him on Ted Veale.

Race 3) Whatuthink (25/1) Another brilliant front running ride from Tom Doyle here. VLV (1/7) ran a good race FT but the bird had flown.

Race 4) Ballyfinboy (7/1) Yet another front running winning ride. Stole the race. Cool Oscar (11/4f) ran an honest race in 4th.

Race 5) Flemenstar (10/11f) The star attraction on the day and what a brilliant jumping performance. Quick and accurate. Certainly as good a jumper out there today in the 3 mile division.

Race 6) Dylan Ross (5/4f) Carberry was at his brilliant best on an animal made for his type of ride. A bridle horse he never let the horse know he was in a race and got there just before the line. brilliant brilliant Carberry.

Race 7 Champagne James (15/8) Flip flopping favs here. Robbie Mac didn't panic as Eligible ran with the choke out. Would be another Carberry if weight hadn't got in the way. Came there cruising one out and sailed by the Tony Marin jolly Blackmail (5/4f)

Nice write up soapp, just wondering what people think about Flemenstar running style and it's possible effect on his chance of staying the Gold Cup trip as it seems to run a bit keen in its races?,I think it might struggle to get home.

Bryan Cooper the new Paul Townend Laugh
