And the nominations are
Quevega
Sizing Europe
Hurricane Fly
Camelot
Excelebration
Dawn Approach

Voted for by the Irish racing media , it looks sufficiently open for SJ to have priced it already with two joint favs at 2/1 . A useful exercise to price it up yourself before checking out their odds and then wonder if you would trust your hard earned on the collective judgement of the Irish racing meeja !

There's no standout horse. Possibly dawn approach, since he's done nothing wrong.

Agreed , although his 'daddy' New Approach didnt get the award for an equally impeccable juvenile career back in 2007 before getting it in 2008 as a three year old . Quevega has been nominated before unsuccessfully and on one level it would seem bizarre you could win it off 2 performances in a season with one  of them confined to females. Still , given her historic achievement this year , she might get it 'Oscar style' for lifetime achievement in effect rather than a particularly brilliant year ?

The more i think about, new approach should be odds on. Who else can win?

It would be ridiculous if quevega won, after connections avoided big bucks for the 4th time.

I agree with you about Quevega which isnt to say she wont win it . 'Doing nothing wrong' as a very good unbeaten juvenile might be good enough to win it for Dawn Approach but it wasnt good enough for New Approach back in 2007 when he was passed over for the honour in favour of Dylan Thomas as an older horse who 'only' won 5 of his ten starts that season including the Irish Champ , King George and that eventful Arc. New Approach won it in 2008 despite being beaten in three of his six starts but he did win the Derby, Irish Champ and English Champ. Am thinking Camelot must have a good squeak on that basis even though his record wasnt flawless either.

If a horse won 4 group 1's this season, I would suggest him over New Approach. Camelot would be favourite, if he didn't run in the arc, but now we are left questioning the quality of the classics.

Sizing Europe would win it but for a dolled off fence

Wide open i think

Both Sizing Europe and Hurricane Fly lost their champ crowns so cant see either winning ( SE would not have won in my book at Chelt all things being equal ). Both HF and Excelebration put up one exceptional perfomance each but that wont suffice in this heat I think. I would have Camelot just ahead of Dawn Approach with Quevega in third .

Dawn Approach should get it on merit, nothing else comes close.
