Would anyone on here know of any bookmaker giving odds on the number of RTE personnel who will be covering the event. My money is on 6 reporters with Bryan Dobson anchoring the main news from Washington. The 6 reporters will be spread as follows:
I Washington
2 New York
3 Boston (Irish community)
4 Los Angeles
5 Tommy Gorman (the Northern angle)
6 Economic correspondent
We will also, most likely,  see Pat the plank doing a special and Hector and John Murray may get a trip.
So I'm betting 9 not to nmention the backroom staff etc.
By the way I hear that wild horses wouldn't get Charlie Bird out of retirement for it when he heard it was USA.
Gay is also looking for a bit of the action "Would you believe".

Obama is a certainty but a bigger certainty will be the breathless adulation for Obama and the naked hatred for Romney from the RTE presenters,Mary Wilson and Rachel English the worst offenders, they let their gender down with their fawning and their unconcealed joy last time.
The four thought policemen will deem this post racist and will look for a ban.

PP Obama-2/9,Romney-3/1
Betfair Obama - 1.29 for 8 grand

The way he handled the storm and also some improving economic data recently released could make 1.29 look Love

In two horse races certainties tend to be that kind of price.
It was more of an observation than betting advice but if you have a handy eight grand lying around you could do a lot worse.

In a discussion on "Today with Pat Kenny", this morning, Lara Marlowe speaking of the Presidential Race, said "it's really a cliffhanger". Neither Pat nor any of the other parties in the discussion disagreed with her. No doubt, it was not in RTE's best interests (talk talk yappity yap) to state that, at the time of the discussion, Romney was available to back on Betfair at 4/1.

Never let over 12 million euro in betting get in the way of a "good story".

Just because the Irish media would like Obama to win doesn't mean theAmerican public will agree, I've taken the 4/1 on Romney think it's good value

the illuminati have already decided that Obama will be returned. America would look racist if he were voted out

It isn't good value. The polls that are portraying the candidates as neck and neck represent the popular vote, but the President is elected by the electoral college, not the popular vote. Obama is weighed in imo.

Agree Icch. The current odds are an accurate  reflection of the chances of either man becoming the next President.

I have no bet but I hope Obama gets it as I find Romney very dislikeable.

Personally, I would vote Romney and I hope he pulls off a shock win.

That's a load of drivel, Tony.

This is a choice between a man who has succeeded in life and a man who has succeeded in elections.  A man who has had a hugely successful career in business and knows what it takes to succeed in business versus a man who has been hugely successful in politics and who hasn't the first clue about business or the economy.

Obama is quite possible the most anti-business president of all time.  At a time when America desperately needs businesses to create jobs.

What's more Obama can get nothing through the Republican controlled Congress/Senate at at time when action is needed.  Only Romney can actually get anything done.

Four more years of a lame duck second term president able to pass no major legislation at a time when it is desperately needed?  A President with little grasp of business or the economy and with a poor track record as president, with a trail of failed/broken promises on deficit reduction and job creation?  Not on your nelly.

Go Mitt!

If you think higher government spending, higher taxes, an ever bigger deficit and bigger government is the way forward, then Obama is your man.

Personally, I prefer the Reaganesque approach encapsulated in the following quote;

"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'"

"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'".....Laugh..brilliant....
i'm with ozy on this ....obama a smashing orator , after that , who knows ....
rommey , a businessman who gets things done ...exactly what america and the world need atm....the sad thing is the race card will be played again and good ol barak gets back in ....for a man who promised so much , yet delivered so little its amazing the easy ride hes had over there ...

Yes workrider you are right. Being black makes it easier to be President of the USA and Barack Obama, having played 'the race card', will for that reason win the election.

Your post is a new low for this forum and you should be embarrassed by it.

All these brilliant business men. Ireland was full of them about ten years ago. Seanie Fitzpatrick, we were told a whizz-kid on all things banking, Sean Quinn plus about 1000 geniuses of developers (many were really gob-shyte brickies who lost the run of themselves) and people like Bertie Ahern who "was the best for the economy". Look where they got us. So I am not so sure about all these so-called great business men anymore. Aye great at spending other peoples money. I dont really have an opinion as such on the US election but just an observation.

Tony, I know nothing about Mitt's underpants, nor do I want to.

With regard to Republicans blocking everything being tantamount to treason, I agree. Intended as a system of checks and balances, political positioning predominates and the country suffers.

Tony, p.s. nobody claims that Obama caused the crash, just as nobody claims that he is good at getting things done in Washington to fix it. (and I don't just mean getting legislation passed).
