Should you not get a free pass into all meetings, just not the ones you have a runner at?

its a serious question tho, one day i'm waved on through, next they want a note of some sort. are owners not important?
Report wildmanfromborneo October 16, 2012 11:21 PM BST
It's this sense of entitlement that has ruined our country, why ye think ye are entitled to free entry is a mystery to me.Racecourses are trying to make a profit, charging people to attend is standard practice yet this poster thinks he is entitled to free entry to all racecourses apart from this being stupid it also would be open to widespread abuse.
Report irish_guy_13 October 16, 2012 11:26 PM BST
everything is a mystery to you, you numpty. it's easy to give up here, on this forum, with you destroying it.

if you could imagine for one second the costs an owner has, surely something could be done to make the feel important.

Mate go the goracing.ie will tell you all you need to know. Depends on what country your an owner in the perks vary but you should always get on for free hope this helps.
Report wildmanfromborneo October 16, 2012 11:33 PM BST
'twas you asked the question.
You are an owner by choice,it is a wealthy mans hobby.
Would all owners qualify for this free entry?
I think the main point of this thread is to portray yourself as an owner.
Report Rocketfingers October 16, 2012 11:40 PM BST
Is it in Ireland?
Report wildmanfromborneo October 16, 2012 11:48 PM BST
Of course it's Ireland,he wants to made feel important.
Some owners expect free entry, free race card and free food and they expect the ordinary race goer to pay for it,they are already receiving millions in subsidies from the state but still want punters to pay more to further subsidise their hobby.

There should be a be in the first line.

i find irish guys statement fascinating to say the least , having been an owner myself , many years ago i might add ...the fact hes claiming to be an one yet asks this question , is to me a little strange ...your trainer will tell you for starters when you're entitled to free entry ....how would it be possible to allow every owner in ireland free entry on any given day ....lets take leops at xmas ..or punchestown for the festival..can you just image it ....if as you claim , you're an owner , how come this basic information has not reached you son...

'sense of entitlement' would be a great name for a horse. If he says he's an owner, he's an owner. Good luck to him and anyone who invests in Ireland and Irish jobs.

Owners should get free entry to the course on days their horse is running (i persume this happens?), same with greyhounds but it doesn't happen unless the owner leads the dog in themselves for weigh in. After all it's these owners who are supplying the product.

The only time i won't pay an entrance fee is when i have runners on the card, i pay the rest of the time even though i'd get away with just walking in the back way. In these times the sports could do with as much income as possible and if my tenner on the gate helps i'm happy to pay it.

As for getting free entry when you don't have a runner, no i don't agree with that. You should pay your entrance fee like all the other patrons.

I'm sorry but some of the people on this thread i would question if they have any right to answer a question about being an owner.
Report wildmanfromborneo October 17, 2012 1:17 PM BST
A very elitist statement from the self styled left winger.
A question is asked whether owners should have free entry into all race meetings and the hapless Rocketfingers thinks only owners should be allowed reply.
Just to humour you the voice of reason on this thread is Premier Fantasy and he is an owner, read his post and then comeback as that posts encapsulates the whole issue.
Report Rocketfingers October 17, 2012 1:34 PM BST
We're talking about horse owners? I know nothing about the dog game. Yes they should be allowed in for free on the day the horse runs but i would say only at the track he runs at not at another track, should they be given a free meal? Never. If there was a free meal i would like hand my pass to a stable staff member to eat, i have no real interest in the racing game anymore and i certainly question some of the comments i've heard from the authorities in regards to taxing betting but that's another issue.
Report mitch leary October 17, 2012 2:36 PM BST
an individual owner has four AIR cards which allow him and three others free entry on the day his horse runs.
I dont know how this works for syndicates. you dont get free entry on days when you dont have a runner. And i've never heard of free meals being given out.
I also disagree that its necessarily a wealthy mans hobby. Its very costly but if you are lucky enough to have a winner at least you can cover some costs.

Great post ^ It's just wildmanfromborneo using his book of tired old cliches to try and make himself look not as infantile as most think he is.

Classic booby is right.

I'm not saying  every owner should have a free pass to every racecourse....... maybe even going racing should be free for all...... but i think owners should be treated better.

One day left a particular sour note, up in navan. First time up in navan, i'd a runner (100% share) and brought a bird, lovely track , nice weather, owners and trainers bar a bit 80's and went for a walk around, waltzed up to the racecourse members bar  upstairs down from the stand  for a bit of comfort for a few mins and not a hope in hell of getting in and the place half empty...joke.

"I'm not saying every owner should have a free pass to every racecourse"
That is exactly what your opening post said, now you have climbed down but even your Navan story shows you trying to get in somewhere you are not entitled to,it was a members bar and you were not alone not a member you hadn't even paid in.
Irish Guy has plenty in common with Rocketfingers both are owners of virtual horses and both bring virtual birds with them when they go to their fantasy race meetings.

Trainer's get free entry to every race meeting whether they have a runner or not tbf..........although the fact that Irish trainer's are forced to apply for free tickets for Royal Ascot is a disgrace imo. Laugh
